Conversations with Stephen McGhee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen McGhee.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Majority of my life I have dealt with obesity, throughout the years I have worked to transform my body and better health. Since starting my journey I have been in multiple car crashes and had a few injuries after each incident I motivate myself to reset my journey and learn how to appreciate myself at each stage of the journey. Meaning even when I was at my highest weight of 518lbs, I still went in the mirror in the morning and give positive affirmations. I would say things like good morning big man, you going to do great big man, and so on. Which influence me to start my company BigManStatus LLC. My goal is to influence and motivate people to better their health and appreciate every progress no matter how big or small it is.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle for me was balance. When starting Big Man Status movement it was easy to just record myself at the gym and interact with people. When starting an online store I had to focus on balance like when is the best time to post to reach a lot of my audience. How to do a workout post that advertises my brand without saying go ahead and place your order. For me, the biggest struggle is being appealing on social media.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Honestly, I would say I specialize in people, I have a huge personality that can make anyone feel comfortable and laugh. For the past four years, I work at Best Buy Customer Care program assisting customers with their orders. I am known for creating an environment on that my peers enjoy and customers feel welcome. I am most proud of becoming an inspiration for a lot of people on social media with my weight loss journey.

What matters most to you?
Learning how to connect with my following on Social Media. The reason it matters the most to me is that, Since I started my journey I have received so many messages from people encouraging me to keep going. Informing me how I motivate and inspire them which starting to mean a lot to me. I made it my purpose to keep pushing and try to inspire as many people as possible to make the lifestyle change.
