Conversations with Taiwo Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taiwo Joseph.

Hi Taiwo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Story

I started Erilearn while working as an employee in an organization that had very little interaction with technology. During that time, I noticed a huge gap between what is taught in universities and the actual skills needed in the workplace.

Even though I graduated as an outstanding student, stepping into the labor market was an eye-opener employers were looking for practical, industry, relevant skills that our education system wasn’t providing.

That realization inspired me to start Erilearn, a platform designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world skills. What makes Erilearn unique is our mentorship-based learning model, where learners receive hands-on guidance and direct interaction with mentors throughout their learning journey

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey definitely hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it. Starting out, there were moments of uncertainty and countless challenges: finding the right opportunities, bringing the right people on board, and connecting with experts who truly believed in the vision.

There were times when I needed more resources, and progress felt slow, but those moments taught me resilience and clarity of purpose. Each challenge pushed me to think differently, to adapt, and to stay focused on why Erilearn exists to bridge the gap between learning and real-world relevance.

Looking back, every obstacle has been a stepping stone. The struggles shaped the mission, refined the vision, and reminded me that building something meaningful takes time, persistence, and heart.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Erilearn, we are redefining how people learn and prepare for the world of work. We specialize in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry-relevant skills, helping learners transition from classroom theory to practical competence.

What truly sets us apart is our mentorship-based learning model. We believe learning goes beyond watching videos or reading materials — it’s about real human connection. Every learner at Erilearn is guided by mentors who have walked the path before them. They don’t just teach; they inspire, support, and walk with students through every step of their journey.

Our programs are built around practical learning experiences, industry-driven projects, and personalized mentorship. We focus on empowering learners with the skills, confidence, and clarity to thrive in today’s fast-changing job market.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the impact stories, seeing a POS technician become a Business intelligence Specialist is one of the stories I’m most proud of. That transformation is what drives everything we do.

At its core, Erilearn isn’t just an edtech platform, it’s a movement to make learning human, practical, and empowering.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next five years, I envision empowering at least one out of every ten youths across Africa with market-ready skills that prepare them for the future of work. My goal is to create opportunities for young people to not only participate in the labor market but to thrive, innovate, and lead.

Through Erilearn, I want to build a generation of skilled, confident, and forward-thinking African youths, individuals who are not just job seekers but problem solvers and change-makers in their communities.
