Today we’d like to introduce you to Taleah Rayn.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From being a young child, modeling has always been my dream. Other kids would say they wanted to be president, doctors, lawyers and then there was me; saying I wanted to be a model. I was never the type to be outside playing with other children I was always inside in front of the television watching America’s Next Top Model perfecting my catwalk and poses. And the funniest thing is I am and always have been that shy girl who would try to hide from the attention but whenever I get in front of a camera, I always become a different person.
Growing up, my family and I moved around a lot, meeting so many different people. I also picked up traits and habits that were not beneficial to my true self and my passion for modeling slowly subsided. Honestly, it wasn’t until my sophomore year in college which was the lowest I had ever been when I had an epiphany that my true calling was and always has been modeling.
I left school and went back home to Illinois. I had got a job and overall, I wasn’t happy so I knew I had to make a change A.S.A.P in August of 2020, I made the decision to move to Atlanta to pursue my modeling career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been everything but smooth! I am truly an introvert at heart so honestly, the toughest thing for me was really networking and getting out to meet photographers, other models and people involved in the business. I also experienced so many unprofessional photographers and business people who have had hidden intentions, and the effect that those experiences had on me mentally and emotionally was heavy, it legit made me want to give up on my passion numerous times. Another difficulty for me was being away from home, my family and literally my entire support team. I was struggling to stay positive because most things did not go as planned in my mind and I was completely out of my comfort zone everything was so new to me, it just all felt foreign.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I identify myself as a model however I picked up the skill of photography and I have also taken a few acting courses. I am mainly known as a model and that is what I am most proud of as well as most comfortable with; and in my opinion that’s what sets me apart from others, the fact that I not only want to perfect my craft in modeling but I also plan on mastering multiple categories of the entertainment business.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The most simplest yet most important thing that I have learned from Covid is to trust my body more than anything because believe it or not, your body talks to you, you just have to be willing to listen. Whether it’s watching what you eat to properly resting and taking time out for yourself… Your body talks.
