Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Scarborough.
Hi Theresa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing hair for compensation at 14. I did girls from school hair out of my home, while also working on my craft. I executed photoshoots, hair shows and 450 state board hours by 17. After graduating high school , I went straight to Aveda institute and became a licensed master cosmetologist by 20.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Even tho cosmology is my passion , the road hasn’t been smooth. In 2020 , COVID hit, I was just starting out at first salon( cherry blow dry bar) as a licensed stylist and it closed down on 12/24 & then 4 days later 12/28 I lost my dad.
Recently I had a baby so I also juggle being a stay at home mom and business owner
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Master Cosmetologist of 5 years. I love being a creative. I’m so passionate about healthy hair care especially in black women that is my specialty. I am known for my silk press & traditional sewins! Being genuine, professional, passionate & knowledgeable sets me apart others. I love my clients like family and I treat them as such .
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have a list of people, I owe credit for getting me where I am today. Ms. Rayner , Ms.Nika, Mrs.Tukia , and Victoria have all shaped me and my skills to become the stylist I am today . I will forever be grateful for their influence. Also my family, my mom , my siblings and uncle Jeff , have really supported from day 1 .
Lastly my daughter, she give me a push I didn’t know was needed.
