Hi Tiara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Becoming a lash technician wasn’t something I initially aspired to be; it was a passion that developed over time. I began lashing the summer before college, inspired by my best friend’s suggestion to learn to do my own lash extensions because it was something that we got done ourselves a lot Initially, I was hesitant, finding the process tedious. However, I started practicing on my own, staying up late to perfect my technique on my friend. My interest and skill grew from there.
By the time I started my freshman year of college, I decided to take lashing seriously. It was the perfect way to make money without the burden of a full-time job while balancing my studies. I took a lash course, got certified, and began practicing on nearly every student on campus. The more lashes I did, the better I became.
I loved the independence of earning my own money from a skill I had honed, and I was thrilled by the opportunity to make people feel better about themselves. This fueled my desire to perfect my craft and expand my business. Throughout my college years, I balanced being a full-time student while building a loyal client base eager to book with me.
Now that I have graduated, I can dedicate more time to making my business the best it can be.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Running a business, especially as a full-time student, presents its unique challenges. Balancing my responsibilities as a lash tech with my academic workload was tough. I often found it difficult to complete my schoolwork while also responding to clients and scheduling appointments around my classes and study times.
Initially, it was overwhelming, and I often overworked myself trying to fit everything into one day. However, this experience taught me valuable time management skills. I realized I needed to plan my days more effectively. I set aside at least two days each week solely for studying and going to the library. On the other days, I scheduled lash appointments after my classes. This way, I could focus on my studies without the stress of trying to manage everything simultaneously.
Managing a full-time business while being a full-time student was undoubtedly one of the biggest struggles I faced. However, I learned to balance both and stay on top of my work, which has been incredibly rewarding.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a lash technician, also known as a lash artist or lash stylist. As a skilled beauty professional, I specialize in enhancing the natural beauty of a person’s eyes by applying semi-permanent eyelash extensions. I am incredibly proud of turning my knowledge and skills into a thriving business, allowing me to make an income while helping women feel confident and beautiful.
What sets me apart from others is not just my technical ability but also my attitude and exceptional customer service. I ensure that every client feels comfortable and valued, turning first-time clients into regulars. My positive vibe and welcoming environment make each appointment enjoyable, so clients look forward to coming back not only for the service but also for the uplifting experience I provide.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future include expanding my business by opening a shop and suites, providing opportunities for other entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. I aim to reach a point where I can travel to offer my services globally. I am committed to continuous learning and growth, and I look forward to connecting with new people and seizing opportunities that will help me expand my business as much as possible.
