Conversations with Tim Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Davis.

Hi Tim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into boudoir photography started long before I ever picked up a camera professionally. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of helping people see themselves differently — more confidently, more boldly, and with a kind of self-love they may not have tapped into yet.

In the beginning, I was photographing anything and everything, just trying to find my lane. But over time, I noticed a pattern: the shoots that lit me up the most were the ones where someone walked in a little nervous and walked out standing taller, smiling bigger, and seeing themselves in a new light. That transformation is what pulled me into boudoir.

ATL Boudoir Studio was born from a desire to create a safe, luxurious, and empowering space for women to reconnect with themselves. It wasn’t just about the photos — it was about the experience, the confidence boost, and giving people something they could hold onto long after the session was over.

The growth of the studio has been very organic. Word of mouth, client love, and the energy created in the studio brought more and more people to us. Over time, I refined my style, expanded the services, and built an environment where clients feel celebrated from the moment they walk in.

Today, ATL Boudoir Studio is more than a photography space — it’s a movement of women reclaiming their power, embracing their beauty, and allowing themselves to be seen. And I’m grateful every day that I get to be part of that journey with them.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were several challenges along the way. In the beginning, I had to build the confidence to take up space in an intimate, niche industry like boudoir. I also had to educate people on what boudoir truly represents — empowerment, not just photos.

On the technical side, perfecting how to photograph and edit melanated skin tones was a major priority for me. Making sure every client — especially women of color — looks properly lit, celebrated, and radiant is something the industry often overlooks, so I made it my mission to stand out in that area.

And of course, learning the business side — marketing, pricing, and creating a luxury client experience — came with its own growing pains. But every struggle pushed me to elevate the studio, refine my craft, and carve out a space that truly stands out in the industry

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At ATL Boudoir Studio, I specialize in luxury boudoir photography for Black women. My focus is creating a safe, empowering space where clients feel seen, celebrated, and confident.

We offer multiple backdrops, creative sets, and fully customized experiences so every session feels unique and personal. I’m known for my attention to detail, especially when it comes to properly lighting and editing melanated skin tones — something the industry often gets wrong.

What I’m most proud of is how my clients feel when they leave: confident, beautiful, and connected to a version of themselves they may not have seen in a long time. That’s what truly sets ATL Boudoir apart.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I wouldn’t be where I am without the people who believed in me from the start. My sister deserves a huge amount of credit. She understood my vision before it was fully formed, taught me the basics of the camera, and now works alongside me as my assistant. She’s been there through every stage and has been one of my biggest cheerleaders.

My partner has also played a major role in my growth. They pushed me to elevate both my photography and editing skills and constantly encouraged me to level up my craft.

Both of them have supported me, hyped me up, and helped me bring ATL Boudoir Studio to life in ways I’ll always be grateful for.
