Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Applegate
Hi Tori, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We met at 10th Planet Atlanta where we train jiu jitsu together. We became close friends and have always enjoyed chopping it up. People laugh at us sometimes because we’re silly. One day we just thought, “Let’s start a podcast where we can tell all our funny stories and share other ones we find.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Filming and making content became easy pretty quickly. We knew it was going to be a big learning curve so we dove in and didn’t overthink it. We researched good mics, lighting setups, and a decent starter camera. We bought the stuff we needed and just started. We threw a ton of our first episodes out, but considered it reps on something we wanted to get good at. We’ve come a long way pretty quickly and because we’re always critical of what we put out we’ve gotten better at it in a short period of time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an entertainment podcast. We love to tell stories and find other nuggets on the internet to share that are weird or funny. We hope that in doing this we can make other people feel a little more comfortable in their own weirdness or just laugh a little. There are so many things people act like are tabu or get embarrassed over, when at the end of the day, we’re all in the same boat and could just laugh at ourselves.
Everyone loves a good story. We love sharing all of the weird things that happen with people. Normalizing some of the TMI stuff that happens to you, that’s part of our goal.
Any chance we can snack or talk about food, we are down. We love to chop it up and talk smack, so we definitely will tell a story and end it with a little shit talk about the situation. We both have a martial arts background so being around a predominantly male environment for such a long time has kind of made us more bros than we probably planned on being. In that though, we are very comfortable. So we’ll talk about almost anything without getting embarrassed.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That might be the beauty about what we’re doing. If you listen to us, you’re going to know us, maybe too much about us. We are both over-sharers.
We both came from very humble beginnings and that is probably one of our big connectors as friends.
Something people probably don’t know is that we both work A LOT. Trying to sit down and record sometimes feels like asking for an act of God, so we may film a few episodes at once. Jayden is a full time athlete and bartender, on top of having a daughter to raise. Tori owns a new salon, runs an Airbnb, and just tries to be a functional human past that. We are both always on the job.
