Conversations with Trent In The Trees

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trent In The Trees.

Trent, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA. My birth parents were not able to take care of me so I was given up for adoption. I was adopted by a local family. I grew up in Marietta/Kennesaw. When I was three, my adopted mom passed away. It was just my brother, dad, and myself. My dad remarried when I was older. From as young as I can remember, I wanted to make music. It was a refuge and true friend at all times. I used to write songs and make fake album covers since 3 or 4. I was influenced by all kinds of amazing music around me and remember latching on and really listening to and loving music early on. When I was 13, after becoming obsessed with “808’s & Heartbreak” I began learning guitar. A few years later, I saved up for a MPK drum machine. That led to me interning at a studio at 16. I learned a lot about making music. When I was 18, I started releasing my own music on SoundCloud. In college, I began to really pursue things and find myself. I did every open mic in town for years which led to me putting a band together and playing more legitimate venues around the city. Since then, I’ve been consistently learning, growing, connecting, creating, and performing. Within the past year, I teamed up with rever agency…we’re plotting…

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is for learning. Everything has been a lesson. I have made many many mistakes in the past resulting from my ego being inflated… Like many locals, I have had issues with Cobb County PD for one … they gave me a tough year and a half .. but I really like to focus on the beautifully abundant and joyful future that approaches me. On a mentally personal level, I have had to find inner peace. I have overcome many demons through a spiritual connection to the Most High. There is so much more I could say about financial struggles too but I am focusing on the abundance coming my way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make music. The album I currently am working on is psychedelic funk soul-pop space groove stuff. Stelladelic is the project. I really want to make classic music for music lovers. I want to innovate and create new sounds, taking what we love about the old to the future. I also perform locally with a band. The live set is currently more of a psychedelic funk rock take on the records. I am most proud of track one from Stelladelic. It’s like Funkadelic, Zapp, Tame Impala, and Frank Ocean had a baby in 2077. That’s really how I wanna be…musically in 2077. I am also extremely proud of Tree Fest. I created a music festival that raises money to plant trees in Atlanta. Before covid, we sold out Drunken Unicorn and raised a lot. This year we are doing it October 9th at Aisle 5… I’m so excited. I really just love making music. So much. I don’t believe in genres. I love what I love and I make music that I would love. Everything will be different. I am also so proud of my music videos. They are on another level and I love that medium of expression in conjunction with music.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I feel like the big shift will be me playing festivals and touring…and the world discovering Stelladelic!
