Today we’d like to introduce you to Udo Ebulu.
Hi Udo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ll start from when I was at my lowest of lows, my 18th birthday. It was the worst day of my life. I woke up that morning feeling sick and I had to perform at a track and field meet with high stakes. I had lost my phone prior to the meet to make matters worse. I uncharacteristically underperformed and failed to advance to the state finals.
That same meet, the girl that I liked and bonded with the most on the track team poked fun at the very insecurity of mine that I believed she didn’t care about, my lack of friends. A couple of days later, as I reflected on my life up to that point, I was dissatisfied with the little that I had achieved. This was all due to my low self-esteem. I was too afraid and conservative. So I looked at the beginning of my adulthood as an opportunity to restart, to be much better than what I was up to that stage in my life. I promised myself that I will be a fearless risk-taker. With my new attitude, I’ve changed my life for the better and I have become the person that I am today. A courageous and creative optimist with a full understanding of my purpose, which is also my passion.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, and that’s alright because adversity builds character. I’ve had to make numerous sacrifices for a successful future. There was a long period of time when I had neither a car nor a stable source of income. I’m constantly misunderstood by others for my unique views, beliefs, and abilities. This creates a feeling of loneliness for me even amongst large groups of people. However, I thank God for the person that I am.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist, I live through my art. All different kinds come from my heart. I love to create, I love how it feels. I can’t really explain it, it’s just so surreal. I am known for my versatility, my adaptability and ability to learn quickly. I am most proud of my open-mind and adventurous character. It allows me to take on and conquer challenges. What sets me apart from others is optimism. I believe that I can do anything that I set my mind to and I won’t give up until I accomplish my goal.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There a lot of people that deserve credit for my success thus far. My parents, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunties, friends, teachers, professors, teammates, managers, colleagues, and supporters. Everyone in one way or another, at some time in my life has encouraged, advised, cared for, and loved me. I love you all for your love and support.
