Today we’d like to introduce you to Vic Kuligoski.
Hi Vic, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started acting when I was in the 7th grade. As most stories go, I broke my ankle from playing sports so all I could do was watch plays my cousins were in. When I watched their shows, I used to think, “I’d love to do that.” I continued to participate in plays throughout High School. Around my Junior Year, I decided that I wanted to further my education in acting and applied to the Theatre program at Columbia College Chicago. It was a great experience because unlike other conservatory programs, we were encouraged to work around the city with professional companies as much as possible. It wasn’t until after I graduated that I saw more on-camera opportunities arise and really come into my own as an actor and find my voice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m sure I can speak for many artists and say there were many ups and downs. But that is all a part of the journey. As an actor, you’re always learning. So I try and make the best of what is in front of me and run with it. Having a support group is key to longevity in the business and I am lucky that I have those people in my life such as my parents and sister that tell me to keep going on those hard days. Because I can look back and say, “I’m glad I stuck it out.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Absolutely! I’m mostly based in Theater and On camera work and have been lucky enough to work with some great creatives. I’m most proud of on-camera opportunities that I have been a part of here in Chicago including; Chicago 7 directed by Aaron Sorking, Nightsky on Amazon Prime and a new feature film directed by the badass Jennifer Reeder called, “Perpitrator.” As well as a brand new short film I was able to shoot in Michigan this fall called “You can go Home Whenever you Want” by the wonderful Matt Everitt.
