Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Freyre.
Hi Whitney , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
By trusting my gut. As long as I can remember I have listened to my gut over my head. And as I got older I continued that in my profession, my relationships and so forth. It began unfolding around 2014 when I started traveling to Hiawassee to visit my aunt who began working on me, energetically through Reiki and other healing modalities. By 2015 I was Level 2 certified as a Reiki Practitioner and meeting a sleu of spiritual and open-minded people who adored and cherished bodywork, energy work and the arts of holistic healing. I traveled the 4 hour trip from my south GA hometown where I was a waitress, every weekend I could to learn more and be engulfed in this world of holistic arts. By 2017 I made a summer move to Blairsville, Ga with my son. The mountains held us well and became the foundation to my unfolding in the healing arts and the healing within myself. In 2019 I became a Licensed Massage Therapist and was fortunate to touch so many people as I began my massage career in an organic spa in Murphy, NC. In 2021 I went through my 200 hour yoga teacher training certification that expanded my heart while rooting me like I had never felt before.. within myself. I soon after, opened my own practice in massage & yoga that served many lovely souls until March 2025. Throughout the years as a massage therapist I have focused on nervous system, stretching and movement and the mind, body and spirit connection.. leading me into my current pursuit of a certification as an Ayurveda Health Counselor… I’ve held space for women in my many holy and sacred spaces, surrounding counties, calling women in from Blairsville to Murphy and Hayesville to Franklin. I have realized the resonance of the traveling medicine woman within my path so “The Roaming Retreat” was born.. offering soulful and restorative modalities to women looking to heal in holy spaces within the Appalachia.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth the entire time. There have most-certainly been bumps in the road but I have an amazingly supportive husband and family that hold me well. My offerings are a reflection of my own healing path. So all that I offer, the words that i speak, it is because i am those words too. the struggles were always attached to lessons especially when it came to loosing people, moving places and even letting out-dated ideas die from your very bones.. i realized the gut-wrenching work that no-one prepared me for and that was my work.. i wanted to bring light for the women to see them selves as whole and beautiful.. and in charge of their wellness! i remember coming home from ytt late one winter night and my husband having the the bed pulled back the way i like it, heater on next to the bed, hot tea, hot bath ready, dim-lights, a candle.. haha and it wasn’t for what you think! 😉 the emotional depth that i was reaching in ytt was bringing up some hard emotional, shit man and I just had to come home and process it. some nights that was crying to him, some moments that was cry-screaming in my room alone at 9 am on a Tuesday morning.. it was deep, it was raw and i was there for it. I have realized that letting these deep, “ugly” emotions out and fully rule for just a bit is so damn healthy and necessary. Especially for the little me who was forced to swallow so many feelings and words. so no the road has not been smooth, but that is what has truly shaped my story.. the bumps. and navigating the after has been the purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master and Yoga Teacher and have worked with clients to bring balance back the nervous system through various modalities including Thai stretching and alignment based work, crystals, aromatherapy, breath work and bodywork, Reiki energetics, 1:1 yoga and class teaching.
I am also a cacao ceremonialist. Creating heart-led spaces for women to reconnect to the anahata chakra and to their womb through ancient and modern practices. I offer private events, public events and 1:1 experiences. These events have been a driving force in women led practices.. circling with women and connecting divinity with femininity in plant medicine form is magic and i think women feel safe in this space.. as this is the most sought after offering.
As a yoga teacher I have a focus in vinyasa practice. Fluidity and breath work are the pillars of my class theme as I intertwine ayurveda, horoscopes and anatomy into my classes. my students love my fluid approach.. i attract students who are looking to open themselves in holistic view points.. where mind, body and spirit dance and movement is holy.
i have a hyper-focus on feminie-fueled holistic work.. i am currently a student of The Shakti School which is a feminie based Ayurveda program that I am soooo stoked about completing in March 2026!
I have been hosting womens events, circles, workshops and retreats since 2022. In 2024 after closing down my brick and mortar studio, I decided to go rogue. As a sagittarrius rising I am fueled by adventure.. so I began shifting my offerings. I have a calling to explore as well as holistic wellness advocate.. i gather women in some of the holiest and sacred spaces within southern appalachia.. encouraging women to turn to the land to heal. I host events in unique places and gather women together to hold space for all that we have been, are and will become.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I once ran away from home in the middle of the night.. on a grey-hound.. and passed through 3 states while my parents were sleeping. Oh to be 15 again.
