Daily Inspiration: Meet Ace Luxid (Aaron Walker)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ace Luxid (Aaron Walker).

Hi Ace Luxid, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a kid, I’ve always enjoyed listening to music. My mom would play Michael Jackson which was of the first artist I’ve ever listened to. I was later introduced to one of the greatest Atlanta rappers, Future. Even though I would always listen to music, I never thought that I would actually create my own. I started rapping when I was 12 years old after I found my dad’s microphone.

When I first began learning how to record, I used a software called “Audacity” and released my first song on SoundCloud. At the time I was in middle school when I released the song and some of my friends and classmates actually liked the song while others didn’t. I almost fell short by almost letting the ones who didn’t like the song get to me but I continued to keep making music off of the software for about two years. My parents never knew that I made music because I would always wait until everyone was sleep before I recorded in my bedroom. At the time I felt like they wouldn’t like my music because of the things I was saying. Later they found out through one of my friend’s parents after I performed at his birthday party and from that point on It was no longer a secret to them. When they found out they actually liked my music, not just because they were my parents, it was genuine. This gave me more confidence to keep going and my dad told me about another software called “Garageband” and that I should try it. I then began to use Garageband where I learned to actually take the time to mix my music and find my own sound. To this day I still use Garageband and my music has improved in many aspects such as sound, production, style, and lyrics.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges wanting to do music was also being a part of my high school basketball team. It was hard maintaining both because of having to go to practice right after school and coming home tired which took time away from me doing music consistently. I played my whole freshman year and at the time basketball was my main priority which kind of put a hold off to my music career because I also had dreams of going pro. I also played JV during my sophomore year of high school but my season ended shortly due to personal reasons and an injury. During my time off, I did a lot of thinking of whether or not if basketball was really for me or not. Over the summer going into my junior year of high school, I recorded and put out a lot of music due to being in the house because of the COVID-19 outbreak which led to me hitting 100,000 streams on SoundCloud. This was the biggest eye-opener and turning point of my life. Once I reached that many streams, I was so excited and dedicated to do more music. I finally realized that being a musical artist was the thing for me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Personally, I consider myself not just as a rapper but as an Artist in general. I feel like if I call myself a rapper then people are only going to think that I can rap. I am very versatile when it comes to music. I have done many different genres other than hip-hop, such as R&B, pop, and alternative. I especially specialize in melodic hip-hop and trap. I am mainly known for being an artist. I am most proud of myself because of how I’ve progressed with my music career and finding my own sound.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I’ve always been a quiet type of person, having a small circle and observing what’s going on around me more than being involved, even though I was known around my school, kind of what we call now a “Popular-Loner.” Some of my interests growing up were video games such as Sonic The Hedgehog, NBA 2k, and GTA. Music, specifically hip-hop artists such as Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd, and Juice WRLD.
