Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleta Allen.
Hi Aleta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I go by #MODELALETA. I am now 29 years old and started modeling at the age of 14. My first fashion show and photoshoot was in Chesapeake, Virginia. Which is a place I like to call home; because that’s where I grew into the woman I am today.
I started off at a modeling/acting agency, but to find out it was a scam. My parents spent thousands of dollars to help me pursue my dreams. Just to find out it wasn’t a company that kept their word. So that motivated me to figure out a plan and to become the model I knew I could be on my own.
One day I came home from school and went up stairs on my computer and started to look up modeling opportunities in the area. I came across a Model Bootcamp class, where I was able to be trained, develop my confidence and walk.
Towards the end of our Bootcamp we were able to demonstrate our hard work at a fashion show that they produced for us as models.
It was such an amazing experience and then is when I knew this is something I wanted to do for the rest of my life!
After that, I had put on a fashion show with a woman that I call my sister; Kristen.
She gave me the opportunity to help her coach models and put on a fashion show called: “Invention of Me.” She is a huge reason why I am where I am today. Thank you sis.
Then My last year of high school I went to a boarding school called:
Pine Forge Academy. There I was able to become a stronger woman and model.
I was able to produce my second fashion show where I continued the legacy that Kristen put in me and let’s just say after that, the rest is history.
After I graduated high school. I went to Atlanta, GA to pursue a Bachelors degree in Fashion Retail Management at the Art Institute of Atlanta.
I was able to connect with amazing people within the fashion, modeling and beauty industry.
Next, I went to Huntsville, Alabama to pursue a Certification in Cosmetology. Where I received my License as a Cosmetologist! Going to school there gave me the opportunity to become a brow tech and makeup artist with the phenomenal brand: Benefit Cosmetics!
While I was in ALABAMA, I grew so much and ended up doing so much more than I thought. I was a model for Alabama Fashion Alliance, Birmingham Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week & even magazine publications; just to name a few.
I was offered all of these opportunities from people in the modeling, fashion and beauty industry in ALABAMA!
So those who think there is no fashion here, trust me it is! I was giving the opportunity to even coach over 100 models within so many organizations from the time I was there. It’s so amazing to me how you can grow and learn so much when you trust and believe in yourself.
Now here I am 29: as an international published model, a licensed cosmetologist, Model coach & more.
I give praise to God for all my accomplishments and what’s to come.
The key is to never give up.
I remember in high school, I used to walk the runway in my living room to Tyra Banks YouTube videos.
Now I am walking the runway in New York Fashion Week, making Tyra Banks proud!
Most importantly, I appreciate my parents for their continues support.
My parents: Raynard and Eslyn, have been nothing but loving and supportive of all my dreams. Also, my sister Ashante has been there all the same. I love them very much.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been an easy road to get where I am? Absolutely not.
I’ve went through a lot in my personal life and professional career.
I felt like giving up a lot of times; because I didn’t feel good enough or not appreciated.
When I was younger one of my teachers told me to my face that I will never be nothing and that I was dumb.
That hunted me for years, but now that motivates me to be a better woman and model.
That motivates me to give modeling opportunities to Girls that I never had at the age of 14.
That motivates me to never give up, from all the times I was rejected at a casting call or job opportunity.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a super model and model coach.
I specialize in helping models develop their craft within the industry.
There are so many parts of modeling, such as: Runway, Print, Commercial, Showcase, International, Beauty and Ambassador.
So my goal is to help give them opportunities and train them to be the best model they can be.
I also model around the world, which is such an amazing experience. Because not only can I inspire models, but other people
In the industry and everyday life.
I’m known for changing lives and building the confidence of others. I truly love what I do and most importantly seeing others happy. The key is to stay humble and always help others. Most importantly never forget to acknowledge how far you have come as an individual.
I am most proud of how many lives I have impacted, it brings tears to my eyes. Because looking at the ones I’ve helped and where they are now is amazing!
What sets me apart from others is; I am very humble, giving and care about the well-being of others.
I care about who I invest in and making sure they get there. Being team-oriented and wanting the best for others is the best feeling in the world.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is accomplishing something that I felt at one point in time I couldn’t do. Because of what others said or thought about me; or even how I felt about myself.
Because that means I beat the odds.
I went against the negativity, the hate, the jealousy & pride of others.
I went against the negative mindset I had at one time, of not believing I could…
When really I CAN DO IT AND I DID DO IT!
