Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Vazquez
Hi Alexa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Working in beauty has always felt like second nature to me. I started out learning from my mom, who’s been a beauty professional for nearly 20 years. Watching her passion and skill inspired me to get my cosmetology license as soon as I could, and now, at 18, I’m a licensed master cosmetologist! Growing up in a Latino household, we put a lot of importance on caring for ourselves and helping out others in need as part of self-respect and confidence—it’s just part of who we are.
Now that I’m in the field, I’m not just about making people look good. I believe in making people *feel* good by really addressing the health of their skin and hair. That’s why working with Kapyderm Atlanta has been such a great fit for us. Their approach is about long-term care and natural healing, not just surface treatments. They use bio-compatible ingredients that work with the skin and scalp, helping people with serious issues like dermatitis and hair thinning. It’s amazing to offer treatments that are both gentle and genuinely effective.
Beyond that, I’ve always been fascinated by the science behind skin health. With Kapyderm, we get to use products that are based on years of Dermotricological research, and it really sets us apart. My goal is to continue building a space that’s all about personalized beauty and wellness, where clients feel cared for and see real results. And with both me and my mom’s expertise, we’re bringing a mix of experience and innovation to our clients that I think is pretty special. I can’t wait to see where we go from here!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a journey with plenty of ups and downs. Building our business hasn’t always been easy, especially when you’re introducing something new to other businesses. We’re working hard to let other businesses and clients get to know us, slowly but surely, and build genuine, lasting trust with them.
With about 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, my mom and I have seen a lot—but we’ve never come across products as unique and effective as Kapyderm’s. Before, it was heartbreaking to see clients come in with serious skin issues and not always have the tools to help them. There’s a real need for solutions that go beyond the surface and address the root causes, which is exactly what these products offer.
Now, we can finally provide treatments that don’t just mask the problem but actually promote healing. Knowing that we can make a difference for people who’ve struggled for years with skin and scalp conditions is what keeps us going, and we’re here to help anyone who’s been searching for real results.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our work with Kapyderm Atlanta is all about specialized, results-driven skin and hair care. Though we started distributing here in Atlanta just two years ago, Kapyderm products have been trusted on the market for over 30 years, with research, production, and testing based in Spain. What makes us unique is our focus on restoring hair and skin affected by various abnormalities—conditions like acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, Athlete’s foot, hair loss, and more.
At the heart of our treatments is Dermotricology, a specialized practice developed by Kapyderm Laboratories, which allows us to address even complex skin and scalp issues. This patented method enables professionals in hair salons, spas, and wellness centers to easily incorporate our products and treatments into their offerings. By using advanced skin and scalp analysis tools, they’re able to offer clients an entirely new level of personalized care and treatment recommendations.
What sets Kapyderm apart is our dedication to creating products that harness natural ingredients—plant extracts, vitamins, collagen, essential oils, and amino acids—to promote therapeutic benefits without invasive side effects. The goal is simple but powerful: treat clients with products so safe and gentle that even children can use them, yet potent enough to address serious skin and hair issues. Before any product reaches the market, it goes through extensive testing to ensure safety and efficacy, so clients can trust that they’re receiving reliable care.
For me, one of the most rewarding aspects of our work is knowing that we’re giving beauty professionals the tools to make a meaningful difference in their clients’ lives. Our support extends beyond just products—we’re here to train and equip other business owners, offering bilingual support in English and Spanish to meet the needs of our diverse community. Ultimately, our mission is to empower professionals to become true experts in skin and hair health, giving their clients results they can see and feel.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID-19 crisis taught us a lot about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of prioritizing health in the beauty industry. At Kapyderm, we saw how much clients valued safety and cleanliness—and we responded by reinforcing the importance of effective, non-invasive treatments. The pandemic emphasized that people want safe products that align with their wellness goals, without sacrificing health or sustainability.
One of the biggest lessons was that beauty and wellness businesses need to offer genuine therapeutic benefits that support long-term skin and scalp health. During the pandemic, demand for effective solutions to skin problems like *maskne* (mask-induced acne) and stress-related hair loss skyrocketed. Our products, with their roots in plant-based, therapeutic ingredients, were uniquely suited to help. This surge in conditions tied to prolonged mask-wearing and stress revealed just how impactful our non-aggressive, science-backed products can be.
On the business side, we realized how crucial it is to offer support and training remotely to keep our professional clients informed and successful even from a distance. Many salons and spas began adapting to virtual consultations, so we helped by equipping them with training and digital tools, empowering them to continue serving clients even through restrictions.
Overall, the pandemic reaffirmed our commitment to creating products that go beyond surface aesthetics. People are more health-conscious than ever, seeking products that are not only effective but also safe and ethically made, with minimal environmental impact. Our commitment to these values, combined with ongoing research and a focus on education, is what truly sets Kapyderm apart in a post-COVID world.
