Daily Inspiration: Meet Amber Craig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Craig.

Hi Amber, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a military family, living all over the world from Germany to South Korea. Although my living situation was never consistent, one thing that has always been consistent in my life has been baking. Ever since high school, I knew I loved baking. When I got home from school, I would spend nights making cupcakes so I could sell them the next day at school. I always knew I wanted to own my own business with my efforts towards trying to bake all kinds of crazy cake and cookie combinations — some were better than others but my personal favorite has always been my famous Peach Cobbler Pound Cake! This is where ‘Crazy’ came in the business name. My family name is Craig, and I never wanted to limit my small business to one set menu, I love making everything! From BBQ to Baking whatever my customers crave, I cook it and it keeps them coming back for more, hence the name Craigs Crazy Cravings! I love baking, creating custom cakery creations, and cooking in general as I have done it for years! I take pride in providing the best customer service as possible to make sure all my customers are happy with their orders. I have a passion for what I do, and I strive every day to create the best small business experience to my customers all around the world!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I purchased my food truck in the beginning of March 2020 right before the pandemic hit. This caused a major rough patch in the progression of taking my business on the road because everyone including myself grew unsure of the severity of COVID. Due to this, I had to put a pause to selling my baked goods/BBQ. I grew extremely discouraged and began to feel that I would never be able to utilize my food truck as soon as I purchased it. Thankfully my team and I were able to resume selling goods a year later, our sales last year enabled us to purchase an upgraded food truck (currently in progress)! I’m so thankful for the journey and not giving up on my business!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently have my MBA in Cybersecurity and work in Implementations as a Project Manager. I work with computers and software whenever I’m not baking or making my friends try pastries!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I wouldn’t say luck is the root of my businesses success so far but my faith in God, consistency, and the hard work I’ve put into maintaining and growing my business.
