Today we’d like to introduce you to Aneesa Evans.
Aneesa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started with graduating from Clayton State University with my business degree (with a concentration in marketing) in 2016. As the years went on, I found myself as the Assistant Marketing Director at Pin Strikes Entertainment Center in Stockbridge, GA in late 2018. It was there where I bought my first camera, a Canon 7D, and my life changed forever. I realized my love for capturing memories that will last forever and I truly enjoyed it. While working at Pin Strikes, I was making commission from my videos that was desired from huge companies to small sports banquets. Although I was working on the small scale of photography and videography, I was making more money via commission than my actual paying wage! I left the company right before the pandemic in 2019 due to not being treated fairly and also being overworked and underpaid. However, I told myself that I wanted to continue my passion in photography and videography. I officially started my business, Imaginative Footage, LLC, in 2021 and it has been a blessing to step out on faith. I took a chance and found a photography and videography mentor, Brandon Dixon, and he taught me the business side of things and how to scale properly. He helped me skyrocket my business and I am grateful. God has been good to me and my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, a smooth road is the last thing I have experienced. The biggest trail for me was getting over Imposter Syndrome. It was my biggest hurdle. Fighting against myself and also fighting with not wanting to be another struggling artist slowed my pace. It still becomes a struggle from here to there because nobody is coming to save me or make me do what I am supposed to do for my business. Everything is on me, whether I succeed or fail, it is on me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So I am a marketer, photographer, and videographer. I pride myself on my education on top of my creative eye and talents because it sets me apart. I help businesses, influencers, and other creators scale their business with quality, value content. On top of that, I help them discover their perfect client (audience) and coach them on how to speak to them properly to then market themselves and their business properly.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The most important thing I learned from the pandemic is that life will pass you by completely no matter what stage you are in. Therefore, it is better to be uncomfortable and grow than to be comfortable and stagnant. I also learned that it does not have to be other people who can want you to fail, but it can also be yourself that can hold you back. I know this from being my own worse enemy.
