Daily Inspiration: Meet Anthony Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Knight.

Hi Anthony, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Professionally known as Jewlz. I was born into a Jamaican family and immersed into various genres of music such as Dancehall, Hip-Hop, R&B, Country, and 80’s just to name a few. My family moved to Atlanta when I was ten years old and that’s really where my love for the culture was born. I started making music in 2018 as a hobby and became very serious about it in 2020 with the release of my first single, “One Time”. I consider music to be a form of expression. At any given time, I’m creating melodies in my head or just writing down something that rhymes so that I can recall it for later. As of now, I’m currently working on an Extended Play with a release date sometime in 2022. The influences of Atlanta can be heard in the songs that I create. For me, it’s about the feeling you get when you hear your favorite song for the first time. That’s the exact feeling I want to give to my listeners. I’m passionate about my craft and will make sure I take my time to perfect it as much as possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is a lot of factors that tie into being an artist but the biggest struggle was learning the business aspect of music. Understanding that quality over quantity is a real thing and if you want professional results, you have to seek out and build relationships with engineers, producers, playlists curators, etc.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Artist. I specialize in Hip/Hop and R&B. I most proud of the growth I made in 2020 making that leap from talking about it to actually being about it. What sets apart from others is I also handle the production of my songs; I curate the whole sound from ground up.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
You have to take risks and put yourself out there in order to gain the exposure you’re looking for. I’m all about taking risk. I live by that mantra.
