Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Turner.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Thanks so much for having me. I am honored to have this wonderful opportunity.
Born and raised in Georgia, my knack for music began as a child. Both parents and grandparents listened to an array of different genres, which broaden my taste in music. The love for not only music but performance grew once I reached high school. I began writing songs and joined Colorguard. Being a part of the McEachern High School Colorguard (Dance and flag girl) for four consecutive years was a big accomplishment. This is where I learned how to dance, be a part of and lead a team as Captian, dedication, and how to be a confident performer. After high school, I took small gigs teaching guard at schools but ultimately decided to join the military to become more stable. I enjoyed and appreciated serving my country but felt as if a part of me was missing because my job had nothing to do with music or dance. After my time was up in the Air-Force , I knew I had to get back to my passion. After hearing multiple stories about how artists were getting into bad deals, I decided to enroll in SAE Institute of Atlanta to learn the business side of the industry. While enrolled, I began going to the studio and making music. Currently, I am finishing my first album. I decided to release one single titled “Self-Love” to gain slight momentum and also to let the industry know that I am here.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I could say it has been a smooth road, but then I would be telling a false story. I’m not saying that it has been horrible, I’m blessed and I appreciate every challenge and accomplishment because it has all been a lesson. My biggest struggles have been personal challenges. Dealing with deaths of loved ones was a challenge in the beginning. It would slow me down until I got a greater understanding of the meaning of life. Actually deciding to take music seriously was also a struggle for me. I’ve seen so many people crash and burn in this industry. For a long time, I ran from it. After years of thought and prayers, I decided to give it a shot and if it’s for me, God will reveal that and protect me from adversity. The new struggle that I’m having is time management! Being a full-time mother, student, and artist is so challenging. I like to give everything I do at least 90 percent so being spread so thin is new to me and it’s a challenge that I will be happy to overcome.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time student, Real Estate Investor, and Music Artist. I have less than one year left before receiving a degree in business administration and marketing. Real Estate has been an interest of mine as well since a child. Currently, I have a few rental properties and Im looking to expand. Last but certainly not least, I’m an emerging independent music artist. I specialize in writing music for multiple genres, choreography, and performance. I’m most proud of not giving up on my dreams. That’s a tough thing to do in today’s world. Going against the grain is definitely what sets me apart from others. I’ve never been one to care for trends. I find joy in creating and discovering new ideas and concepts. I enjoy the tedious things that most people hate.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I understand, inner-stood, and now OVERstand is that people’s personal problems have nothing to do with you. Many times we can take things personal. We can think someone is doing something to hurt us when in actuality that’s just who they are. It has nothing to do with you. Once I learned that my relationships with people improved drastically.
