Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Adekoya

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Adekoya.

Ashley Adekoya

Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I come from a background of admin work in Corporate America. I started out in the wedding industry working with a florist in 2018 who was building her wedding brand. I assisted with administrative work, Wedding Planning and Day of Coordination. Working with brides was a new passion I didn’t realize I had until I was handed the opportunity. The platform to serve brides, grooms, bridal parties, family of the Bride and Groom was a love I never knew I had. I eventually branched off and started Adekoya After All Weddings in 2022 after I planned my wedding in 2 months which was over the top thanks to all my wedding industry crew.

I capitalized off of my wedding hashtag #AdekoyaAfterAll, and this Husband-and-Wife Wedding Planning and Day of Coordination company was born. My husband, Isaac Adekoya adds a new flare like no other to this business. He solely accommodates the groom and groomsmen with Barbing, Styling, Beard Care, Top Quality Fragrances and Day of Coordination to make sure they are on time and where they need to be. We have been blessed this year to have a wedding every week from the end of June 2023 until the middle of October, then fast forward to November going into 2024. We have one of the best Day of Coordinators, Charity Jones, who is all about the details. She is a professional dancer who learned her expertise from The Alvin Ailey Studios, she offers Choreography to Brides & Grooms, along with bridal parties.

This business is something I prayed for, and I am reaping the rewards. Our brides end up becoming our friends, we love and cherish them. Without them, we are nothing and we appreciate them for trusting us with their vision and special day. The referrals from Makeup Artist MemaCreations, Florist Denise Grant of Weddings by HACTAC, Keri-Ann Green of KMG Designs, friends and family referrals we thank you so much.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Road has not been smooth; it is not an easy process, but we are pushing through. I had an injury where I broke my foot in two places in October 2022. I deal a lot of foot pain, but it’s been getting better. I used to love to wear heels when I had a day of coordination, but high heels have to cease for now. I remember meeting with my bride for September 22, 2023, in January of this year. I was on crutches for 2 -3 months. I made sure I sat down before they came in, I didn’t want them to think I couldn’t perform for their wedding. I had another business I had to walk away from, which was very heartbreaking but this is it for me until God says otherwise.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I am a full-time Entrepreneur. I was in the mortgage industry in which I had two remote jobs I was killing the game. I was laid off a week after my wedding in May 2022. I opened a coffee/flower shop in June 2022, I was the co-owner which now after one year, and no longer an owner. I fully do wedding planning and coordination.
