Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Grimes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Grimes.

Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Baltimore, MD native. I currently live in Atlanta, GA.

I graduated from Morgan State University in 2017 with my Masters in Business.

After graduating college there was a sense of accomplishment yet at the same time I struggled to find my purpose.

It wasn’t until I surrendered to God and gave Him a yes that I would later discover my purpose.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout my journey, I dealt with a plethora of challenges. However, one of my be biggest obstacles I faced was overcoming imposter syndrome.

For many years, this held me back from stepping into what God had for me.

When I realized I couldn’t do what God was asking me to do, I decided it was time to tackle it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a proud faith-based Children’s Book Author. I create interactive picture books that help grow kid’s faith in God.

My debut children’s book “God, Who Am I” helps readers learn and embrace their God-given identity.

I am on a mission to increase diversity in kid literature by creating faith-based books for underrepresented children.

I also help first-time authors overcome their fear of writing so that they can self-publish successfully.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
There are so many lessons I learned!

Lesson 1: God wastes nothing!

For many years I thought I had wasted so much time. God reminded me that those years weren’t a waste. In fact, those were the years He was preparing me for everything He was getting ready to walk me in.

Lesson 2: God can use anybody!

If someone would have told me years ago that He would call me to write for the next generation, I probably would have laughed. Throughout my journey, God reminded me that He can use the most unlikely person to carry out His plans.

Lesson 3: Being ready isn’t a prerequisite for God to use you!

For many things I’ve accomplished in my life, I can say I felt ready. But with writing this book that wasn’t the case.

God reminded me that being ready isn’t a prerequisite to be used by Him. Instead, He was looking for an obedient and willing vessel.

Lesson 4: Get out of your own way!

I don’t know about you but I can tend to second-guess myself. Through this process God reminded me that it was ok to do that, however, you couldn’t let it stop you.

Lesson 5: Just do it!

That’s right, “just do it!”

When I realized that doing what God called me to do was bigger than me I had no choice but to get out of my own way and just do it.

There were people waiting on me to just do it and I believe if you’re reading this, there are people waiting on you too.
