Today we’d like to introduce you to Austen Patterson.
Hi Austen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my beauty career in 2015 as a college student just looking for a hobby to take my mind off school. I quickly became infatuated with YouTube tutorials and started practicing on myself. A few months later, my friends and friends of friends started asking me for makeup services and that birthed a legend. The Champagne Xperience has since expanded with luxury cosmetics that has taken Atlanta by storm. In the summer of 2022, we will also be adding esthetics services to our menu as I wrap up my esthetician’s program at Paul Mitchell The School.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth journey! I feel that it is just as important to acknowledge the lows of entrepreneurship as it is the highs. My passion has truly kept me going on this journey. While I have seen 4 figure months, I have also seen months where I made absolutely no money and wanted to completely give up. However, having faith in my company and in my journey has helped me tremendously. I built this company from the ground up and it’s something I’ll never give up on.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Professional Makeup Artist with a specialization in Soft Glam and Bridal Makeup. I am most known for my stellar application, making full coverage makeup look like skin. I am most proud of the experience I’m able to provide for my clients. This is also something I feel that sets me apart from the others. I don’t want to just be a service provider. I don’t just want to be a small business owner. I want all my clients to experience luxury and I do just that with each and every one of my girls. Each of my services comes with a glass of wine or champagne.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Remain consistent and stay the course. Success doesn’t happen overnight. I feel that most of us service providers and small biz owners, myself included, expect our businesses to blow up overnight because we’re so talented; unfortunately it takes ALOT more than talent to maintain a successful business. Use your social media to your advantage, network with individuals in your field, and always remember your WHY. That is going to keep you going when nothing else will.
