Daily Inspiration: Meet Bae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bae

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
-My father was an engineer at DMG Studios in Atlanta and always shared his love for music and writing raps with me.
-I expressed interested in wanting to sing and rap to my mom as a child watching american idol.
-I would make covers of songs and put them on youtube. They were very bad to me but somehow my sister would see them and she was very encouraging.
– My sister and i would learn the dance moves to whatever song was popular at the time when we were kids.
-I would always hang out with my cousin D1 Diesel in Texas while he made beats growing up.
– My father passed away and music became my safe place. I’d make playlists and watch music videos for hours.
-Writing raps and freestyling with my best friend Shannon in high school and college.
-School and sports took precedent when i was in high school and college but i loved writing poetry.
-Being around the music industry in college because of my peers that modeled, took photographs, and put together visuals.
-Hanging out with my friends in Atl in the summer that made music encouraged me to make my first song
-Getting FL studio on my laptop to try making my own music back at school.
– My brother passed away and suddenly living life so traditionally (graduate, 9-5, marry kids, die) didn’t feel right anymore. I wanted to do what made me happy.
-Covid happened and i wasn’t at school in DC so i was around a lot of my friends that made music in ATL and I fell back in love with it slowly
-2021 i dropped my first song “feel sum way” under the name “Ayx”
-2022 i changed my name to “Bae” and started dropping music more consistently
(got the name bae from my grandma calling me that and my old social medias were my name then – bae. lover girl, dreamer)
– BAE, stands for BlAck Enigmatic, I’ve just always been different from everyone else while still being well liked and essentially fitting in.
-2023 i started performing live and recording myself
-now performing live in different states, honing into my own style and building a brand behind it

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
-losing my father and brother
-mother prefers a more practical route
– expressing myself in front of lots of people
-lack of familial and friend support/interest (except my sister lol)
-being a woman in a once male dominated industry
-losing friends- regular growing pains
– peers relocating
– finding a team- still building
– learning about the business side of everything – independent artist life
-staying committed in dry spells or just long term with periodic growth

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an recording artist and entertainer out of Atlanta, Ga by way of Port Arthur, Tx. I do what some might call alternative music, melodic rapping kind of like pop rap/ melody making/smooth singing. Its my own style thats really reflective of what I’ve grown up listening to while being its own thing. I’m known for my voice, my catchy melody or cadence, and simple bars with deeper meanings. I feel that each one of my songs tells a different story that people can relate to. No one song is the same and while they know they’ll love it every new drop is surprising to the listeners and even to me. I’m proud of how far I’ve come as this feels like the right thing for me to do. I’m also proud of my peers, I have great friends that are amazingly talented and we all work hard and support/uplift each other. My music is different, my style is different, my vibe, my outlook, my love and respect for engineers & producers, videographers etc. I never give up. I’m an enigma but you get it though.

What’s next?
I want to throw my own show , go on my own tour, and then go on tour with an dope artist . I’m looking forward to making new music and visuals now that i have a sound and vision im really gunning for. For me its now more “Bae” the Brand instead of just being an artist.
