Today we’d like to introduce you to Bo Scott.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts with discovering who I really was at my core and then designing a life that worked around my natural characteristics. I was about 19 years old when I found out that I like to laugh and make others laugh and smile. That is the foundation of my personality. Everything else is just built on those two things for me.
So, at 19 I just decided to do that for the rest of my life with no concern for how much money I was going to make. I figured that was the best way to live a great life.
That led me to try stand up comedy, and pursue things I enjoyed doing. Of those things, electronic music was at the top.
I have learned to just go with what naturally inspires me. So, I focused my life on the music, and comedy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, you can’t start comedy and be good at it. Not even the greats can say that. So, there was a period of time in the beginning of comedy where I was absolutely horrible. But I never thought about quitting.
I did eventually quit after about 10 years. The reason I will give later.
I never gave up on music, and learning to create quality music was definitely a struggle. I am not a classically trained musician, so I had to learn through brute force. When I started I thought it would take me 8 years to get good at it. It took more than 15.
But I am a shinning example of hard work beating talent. The hard work of the past 15 years making music has made me pretty comfortable in the studio.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At my core I am just an entertainer really. I have performed on every stage at the comedy store in Hollywood, Laugh Factory, American Comedy Company, Punchline, done shows with Theo Von, Joe Rogan, Drew Carey, and do not claim to be half as funny as any of them.
I probably could have been much more successful as a comic if I wasn’t drawn to music so much.
Djing for me is what I am best at. I’ve been passionate about it since the day I learned how to beat match, and have worked at it every day since.
I have played sold out shows on both coasts, was a resident DJ at Omnia in San Diego for a couple years, worked for Pioneer DJ, and am signed to 10 record labels.
My career has been very rewarding but I am most proud of who I am to my wife. I don’t let the career get in the way of my relationships.
Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to so much more in the future! I have so much music to release and feel so inspired by the new sounds of deep melodic house. I feel like the best of my career is yet to come.
I am currently building an event series called “This is Everybody”. It will feature music that moves your soul.
It will also be built on a blockchain. Why?
Why not!?
