Daily Inspiration: Meet Brianna A.K.A Azule Nixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna A.K.A Azule Nixon.

Hi Brianna A.K.A Azule, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For starters, I give thanks for the opportunity to share precious moments in life.

My mother named me Brianna but my artist name is Azule. I was born in Miami, Florida but spent early childhood memories in the island of Jamaica and in between road trips to Georgia. As a kid, I pretty much cruised through life trying to figure it out like every other little tiny being. Lol, I enjoy the arts and music but I was raised to focus on intellect because that provides security in life. I pretty much followed the rules to the best of my ability but played school to the perfect rhythm. I was pretty active in youth teen days participating in cheerleading, volleyball, dance, and tennis. Then at some point life started ‘life-ing’ and I lost a passion for expression due to a reaction of the changes in my environment.

I experienced different waves of depression, struggle, and blind abuse. The recession back in 08 changed a lot of people’s lives and I had a real reality check with my place in the world. I eventually found my way back to activities to heal and began taking dance training at 17 very seriously. From there I was able to develop into musical theater exposure, performance, teaching, and booking opportunities. I had the pleasure of teaching under Nolwen Lalanne at Nest Of Living Arts for five years before transitioning to Carnival Cruise Line Playlist Cast. After that journey, I moved to Atlanta to pursue personal projects, connect with the culture/artist, and pursuing bookings as an independent artist,

However, at some point I experienced a redirection in life and had to move back in with my Mom at 25 years old. And I was single and lonely. Lol. And to top it off, I end up in a uber car accident that causes a tear in my right shoulder which needed surgery.

I was experiencing what I perceived to be bad karma and had to deal with the pain I avoided through performing. Basically… I had to sit my butt down. During this time of ‘awakening’ Covid decides to shut the world down for a bit to make us all reflect inside and I rediscovered my purpose.

I decided that expression of our gifts is what brings the most healing to myself therefore the most healing for all.

I moved back to Atlanta in 2020 during Covid and took a chance of faith by diving into new territories of faith. I started to heal after a year of surgery and began moving my body again. I connected with new communities and was embraced naturally where I fit in.

As of today, I am currently teaching with I Am Arts Foundation in Atlanta as well as Co-Founder of Celestial Goodiez.

It may sound like a rainbow story but it took a lot of colors to create this masterpiece in the making.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been a rollercoaster truly. Lol.

Multiple moment of losing it all and getting it back.
Hungry nights, lots of tears.
Separation of friendships.
Sexual Abuse.
PTSD.
Fights.
I mean I’m really saving the good stuff for the movie.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a lot of things. lol

I would definitely say that I’m most known for my passion for the arts. I am most dedicated to producing works of artistry in whichever form it appears.

Currently, that led me to teaching with the I Am Arts Foundation as a choreographer. I teach modern jazz and contemporary lyrical to students in the musical theater program that the foundation offers. This is actually my most proud space because I am constantly reminded of myself as a teenager at peace to have a space of safe expression.

I also launched my first business, Celestial Goodiez, this year which provides holistic care kits aimed to encourage self-care and luxury healing. I share this company with my partner, Natalie White, she has been such an inspiring friend and sister as we both share common goals for serving the Earth.

I believe what sets me apart is my passion to connect the inner world and outer world. I don’t believe I can save everybody and I’m not perfect but I do have something special to offer. With that, I just honor my lane and focus on my purpose while loving it all at the same damn time.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I take all the risks. lol

One of the biggest risks I ever took was taking the last $80 I had in my bank account to fly to another state to audition again for the Carnival Cruise Line Playlist.
It was worth it though… got those bands later! 🙂

Truly risks is where I believe the magic happens.
It’s a measure of faith especially if your responsible and intentional.
It’s expressing that you trust God.
