Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Chappell.
Hi Britney, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Absolutely! I am an actress and comedian. Acting is my first love, as a kid, I would imitate characters I watched on TV and movies. It was just fun! I always knew that I would pursue a career in entertainment. Throughout school I was involved in drama club and I majored in Mass Media in college. Standup comedy was something that I always enjoyed watching but never had the courage to try until last year. Now I’ve found another art to love and I’m enjoying the process of learning a new craft. It’s amazing what you discover about yourself when you try new things!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve actually been my biggest challenge at times. I’ve doubted myself, questioned my talent, and even given up. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison and feel like you’re not good enough. What I’ve learned is to fiercely believe in myself, not let fear cripple me & delay is not denial. Things may not happen as fast as I would like at times, but it’s coming.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actress. I enjoy playing a wide range of characters, but I am most drawn to comedic roles. I love to laugh and to make people laugh. I wanted to build up my comedic prowess so I took a standup comedy class in 2023. It was a challenge, as new things can be, but I was determined to conquer that fear. Since that class, I have performed at comedy shows and I’ve built my confidence in making my own comedic content on social media. I am most proud that my first viral moment was a skit I did with my dog, Charlie.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I believe that preparation meets opportunity, and what’s for me is for me. Opportunities have come my way just from me putting work into my craft. I’ve been chosen to lead film projects without having to audition just from people seeing my work ethic and talent. Those are blessings and a testament to the work I continuously put into what I love. Although I haven’t had what most consider, “the big break” (yet), I know it’s just a matter of time. I always say, “I’m one ‘no’ closer to my ‘yes’.” I’ve learned to embrace the ebbs and flows of my journey.
