Daily Inspiration: Meet Brittany Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Evans.

Hi Brittany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey as Singer-Songwriter Bre Nickelle began in July of 2020, during that time I released my first recorded single “Nothin Beats” which is a testament of me overcoming my struggles of tragedy and trauma. From there I went on to record and release my first E.P in December entitled ” V.I.V.I.D with my leading single “Soul” that gained me recognition from of one of Chicago longest running radio personalities ChiBlizz. From there the single went on to be in heavy rotation on multiple radio shows and earned me opportunities. of interviewing at 4 different radio stations and podcasts including from Texas and New York City. ‘Soul” video is currently thriving on Youtube with over 15000 views and counting alongside of 6 other videos with one being my first collaboration with a rap group The Black Mavericks, which has gained recognition from one of hip hop’s elite Khrysis and Felipe’s Garage Podcast. Hard work and dedication has recently led me to being a syncing artist in with an opportunity to have my song placed on major commercials and films. Currently, I am working on my 2nd E.P entitled “R&Bre” which is set to be released summer of 2023.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As you can imagine this journey of being an independent artist is not easy. Surprisedly, one would think that the support of close loved ones and friends would be the least of your concerns but that is far from the truth. I found that being on this journey has shown me that the help and support of strangers is more effective which can cause insecurities. Also, having talent isn’t just enough, you must have the resources to see your dream all the way through and when you fall short it can leave you at times feeling stuck and stagnant. The saving grace is my drive, determination and my son that keeps me focused. I’ve learned that consistency is key, discipline, balance and structure along with preparation make for a healthy and successful career.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Bre Nickelle born as Brittany N. Evans July 31st, 1987 in Chicago, IL. Raised in the church by her Mother and father who were Pastors of New Light Evangelical Baptist Church on 74th & Halsted in the city of Chicago. There, she sang and was the church drummer for many years. It is safe to say music has been a part of her life since childhood. Bre Nickelle started her singing career full-time in 2020 but has been writing music for over 10 years. “ Nothing Beats” was the first single released on July 31st, 2020 as a symbol of her life testimony, which was then the beginning of what now is “Attenchun Ghettaz” with her Business partner/ Producer Sirrod Colvin.

On February 14th, 2021 a local radio Dj discovered her talents through her song “SOUL” from her first E.P “VIVID” released Dec 2020. From there, her song has been in rotation on Soul 106.3 and Support District Radio. Currently, Bre Nickelle has 19 full songs released on all music and social media platforms. She has been blessed to be able to perform throughout the city. Bre Nickelle has also begun to expand her craft by writing for other artists. Her first feature was with the hip hop duo The Black Maverick, song entitled “Sincerely Yours” which has gained recognition from one of hip hop’s elite Khrysis and Felipe’s Garage Podcasts. Her newest song “Luv Space” is on its way to being another crowd-pleaser with a universal message. While currently having 6 music videos thriving on Youtube, I am currently working on my 2nd E.P entitled “R&Bre” which is to be released summer 2023.

I’m most proud of the courage that I’ve gained to step out of my comfort zone and walk in my gifts, skills and talent. Being able to share my story and allow people to see me vulnerably has been impactful to me and others. It truly warms my heart when people that have known me as the shy church girl to blossom into this boisterous, unapologetic artist, and for an absolute stranger to see me through my music is humbling.

The ability to always being willing to learn and grow is what I feel sets me apart from the rest.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I believe in the law of attraction, by focusing on what you want to achieve you will produce positive energy to attract those achievements to you. I am a firm believer that when I write out my goal and physically lay my eyes on it daily it will cause me to be very productive and attain what I set out to do. This has been very effective in my career thus far.
