Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Richmond, VA, in an entrepreneurial household. I would say being an entrepreneur is in my blood. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, I relocated to Charlotte, NC., in search of better personal and professional opportunities. I received my MBA from Walden University shortly after moving to Charlotte. I am passionate about mentoring others – focusing on positive self-image, financial literacy, and educational and career guidance. I launched my professional services business, Shine Exceedingly Professional Services, in March 2019. I have mastered the art of accommodating clients of different career types and requirements. My services include a high-quality cover letter and resume, interview preparation, business and expert market analysis plans, and career and business coaching.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been a smooth ride! I’ve had to overcome and, quite honestly, am still overcoming many struggles. I have learned that entrepreneurship does not come with a manual and that everyone’s journey is unique. Some of my struggles were finding my “NO,” and dealing with the inconsistency in entrepreneurship. I struggled with the need to accept everyone as a client, but long term, it harmed my business and mental health! I learned my target client and redirected anyone who didn’t fit my target profile. Also, coming from Corporate America, not having stable work or paycheck was scary, but after adjusting my budget and mindset, opportunities began to appear, which created consistency and stability.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Business Recruiting Consultant and Small Business Owner specializing in career and business consulting. I am most known for my unique yet proven successful resumes and detailed business and market analysis plans. I am most proud that I have kept God as the foundation of my business. I have never stopped being a learner; I stay abreast of trends, industry changes, and new technologies. I ensure that I pray over every service I perform that God will place my clients in the rooms designed just for them.
