Daily Inspiration: Meet Campbell Washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Campbell Washington.

Hi Campbell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was having trouble getting over a breakup and I decided to dive into growing. I started with fruits and veggies, and I dived into tropical houseplants shortly after. I’ve always wanted to own a retail store and I felt that starting with a plant shop could be my segue into that.

I started selling plants on Instagram, then moved on to pop-ups and e-commerce shopping. I have participated in many pop-ups across Atlanta and surrounding areas.

The next step is to open the brick and mortar located in Buckhead, coming in the second half of 2022.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having a small business is definitely not an easy road, there are many different rules, regulations, and licensing that you need in order to have and maintain a plant business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Along with owning a plant shop, I am also a Food and Product Photographer. I received my Bachelor’s in Studio Art from Spelman College in 2014 and went on to receive my Master’s of Fine Art in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Since then I have photo-assisted Lifestyle style and Commercial Photographers on many campaigns such as Olè Mexican Foods, Hoots Wings, The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and Chick-fil-A. I also take on my own clients and have shot many different products such as makeup, skincare, clothing, desserts, accessories CBD products, restaurant menus and more. When starting the plant shop, I knew that It would become another avenue for photography.

What sets me apart from others is that I am able to use every creative talent I have and use it in both of my businesses. I am able to print archival imagery, create and print my own labels and I also have the ability to create hand-thrown ceramic pots for plants.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is success in my personal life and in my business and being able to find a balance between the two.
