Daily Inspiration: Meet Carl Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Wright.

Hi Carl, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Absolutely! My journey to becoming the Founder and CEO of C & C Wright Investments, LLC, is rooted in a lifelong passion for creativity and storytelling. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska, but raised in Decatur, Georgia, where I first discovered my artistic inclinations. At the age of seven, I realized my love for writing and drawing, which was validated when one of my drawings was featured in Sesame Street Magazine in 1986, honoring me as one of the national winners from Georgia.

As I grew, my interests expanded to include sports, language arts, and music. However, it was writing that ultimately captured my heart and became my primary focus. Today, I embrace the notion of being a “perpetual child,” always seeking new adventures and experiences that fuel my creativity.

One of my proudest accomplishments is the creation of “Collin’s Sweet Adventure,” a story inspired by my son, Collin, and his exciting escapades with friends. Through my work, published under the pseudonym Carl Is Always Wrighting, I strive to celebrate the joy and magic of childhood, inspiring readers of all ages to embrace their imagination.

Each project I undertake reflects my unique perspective and experiences, allowing me to craft engaging narratives that resonate deeply with my audience. In every story, I aim to infuse that same wonder I felt as a child, reminding everyone of the importance of creativity and storytelling in our lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, and like many creative paths, it has been marked by its fair share of challenges. One significant struggle I faced was balancing my creative passions with the practical aspects of running a business. Transitioning from being a writer to being the CEO of C & C Wright Investments involved not only honing my storytelling skills but also developing my business acumen. This required learning about finance, marketing, and management—areas where I initially had little experience.

Additionally, as a creative individual, I often heavily invest my emotions in my projects. There have been moments when self-doubt crept in, especially when facing criticism or when a project didn’t resonate as much as I had hoped. It took time to learn how to separate my identity as an artist from the feedback I received, understanding that not every piece of work would be a perfect reflection of my vision.

Networking and finding the right audience for my writing also posed challenges. I had to actively seek out opportunities to connect with readers and fellow creators, which sometimes felt daunting. However, each of these struggles has taught me resilience and the importance of perseverance.

Ultimately, these challenges have fueled my growth. They’ve sparked a deeper commitment to my craft and a greater appreciation for the journey itself. Each hurdle has led to valuable lessons, allowing me to become not just a better writer and CEO but also a more well-rounded individual.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At C & C Wright Investments, LLC, we specialize in creating bespoke notebooks and journals, as well as engaging children’s coloring and activity books. My work revolves around celebrating and fostering creativity, whether it’s through beautifully crafted journals that invite reflection and inspiration or through playful, imaginative books designed to spark a love for storytelling among young readers.

What sets us apart is our commitment to quality and personalization. We believe that writing and creativity should feel intimate and unique, so we focus on offering customizable options that allow our customers to express their individual styles and preferences. Each journal is made with care, ensuring that it not only serves as a tool for creativity but also as a cherished keepsake.

Additionally, our children’s books are designed with an emphasis on both fun and educational value. We integrate interactive elements that encourage kids to explore their creativity, whether through illustrations that inspire imaginative coloring or activities that promote learning in playful ways.

I am most proud of the positive feedback we’ve received from parents and educators who appreciate the impact our books have on children. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear that our stories have sparked joy and creativity in young minds, like children finding outlets for their imagination or parents using our journals to inspire meaningful conversations.

What truly sets me apart is my holistic approach to storytelling and creativity. Drawing from my diverse background and experiences, I infuse my work with authentic narratives and vivid illustrations, aiming to capture the essence of childhood wonder. This connection to my own experiences as a child, combined with my commitment to encouraging creativity in others, allows me to create products that resonate deeply with both adults and children. Ultimately, my goal is to cultivate a space where creativity thrives, leaving a lasting legacy that inspires future generations.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking to the future, I am truly excited about focusing on our youth, who are the future of creativity and innovation. One of my top priorities is to give back to this younger generation by sharing my passion for writing and design. With that in mind, I’m thrilled to be involved in teaching and motivating my son, Collin, along with his friends, in the creation of bespoke notebooks and journals. This hands-on experience not only empowers them with valuable skills but also encourages their entrepreneurial spirit. It’s wonderful to see them engage in the entire process—from brainstorming ideas to designing and producing their own journals.

Additionally, I’m incredibly proud of emerging talents like Jamarii Rashad Hill, who, through our mentorship program, has recently published his first journal entitled “Are You Ready For Football.” It’s available on Amazon, and watching him navigate the publishing journey inspires me and reinforces the importance of nurturing creativity in young people.

As for future plans, I envision expanding our offerings to include more collaborative projects with young creators. I’m excited about the potential to launch workshops and community events focused on storytelling, writing, and illustration, where kids can express themselves creatively and gain confidence in their abilities.

I also plan to further enhance our product line to include more interactive and educational elements, ensuring that each notebook and journal not only serves as a canvas for creativity but also contributes to personal growth and learning.

By investing in our youth and fostering their creative talents, I aim to create a ripple effect that inspires an entire generation to embrace their imagination and pursue their dreams. Overall, these initiatives reflect my commitment not just to my business, but to building a supportive community where creativity can flourish and where young voices can be heard.
