Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Harris.
Hi Caroline, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is constantly changing but I am happy to report I am still helping clients buy and sell real estate. Currently, I am assisting my Georgia clients and in the near future, I’m thrilled to announce my Real Estate business will scale to include North and South Carolina. I love meeting new people and exploring new towns. So much so, my husband and I have decided to tackle our biggest project yet in a small town in South Carolina. We are purchasing an old school and plan on converting it to a Boutique Hotel that is located off Main Street in Downtown Walhalla, SC. We are honored to be a part of the Oconee County and Walhalla Communities and look forward to helping with the revitalization of downtown Walhalla. There is so much potential from Main Street of Walhalla to the near mountains and soon enough more people will discover this hidden gem. It is such a beautiful area with tons of lakes, mountains and outdoor adventure. If you would like to follow our journey or learn more, you can find us on social media as “Old Oconee Inn.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Even when the real estate market is hot, that doesn’t mean it’s always good. The large amount of buyers and low amount of homes for sale, coupled with inflating home prices, many buyers are having a hard time just getting a home under contract… With multiple offers on most homes and the influx of cash buyers, the majority of qualified buyers are having to sit on the sidelines or submit offers with terms that are not their most desirable terms. Many people think real estate is a slam dunk right now, but unfortunately, for buyers, it can be quite frustrating. Eventually this will shift, but for now, it is quite the challenge. I see it from both sides as I represent Buyers and Sellers alike.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a REALTOR and Investor so I do all things Real Estate related. I’m also a wife and mother to two young boys. #mompreneur
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Right now, the real estate market is still hot, but at some point it will have to cool down. I don’t foresee this market being sustainable much longer. Prices are high creating inflation and reducing the value of our dollar. If too many corporations keep buying homes in cash and renting them out, we will eventually have more renters than owners. I hope the market will stabilize so more qualified buyers that are non-cash buyers will have the chance to become a homeowner.
