Daily Inspiration: Meet Casey Howard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Howard.

Casey Howard

Hi Casey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Years ago, I became very interested in portrait photography. I had a camera my parents bought me, and I started taking pictures for my family and friends. I quickly realized that I really enjoyed the art of portrait photography and started taking paid gigs on the weekends, on my time off from my corporate job. After the birth of my first child, Anna Kate, I kept up the weekend photography side jobs, in hopes of one day becoming busy enough with it so that I could quit my corporate job. I was determined to lose the 9 – 5 to do what I loved and be able to make my own schedule, in order to be with my kids a lot more.

After the birth of my second child, Millie, I quit my corporate job and went full-time with my photography. It was a dream come true! I traveled to clients’ homes and locations to photograph them. In June of 2020, about to pop with my third child, my son, Bo, I opened up my own portrait studio in Marietta, GA. I niched down to strictly maternity and newborn portraits at my studio and completely elevated the studio experience by creating a unique, high-end, one-of-a-kind experience for my clients. Through the creation of my own business, I was able to be home with my kids when I wanted and really get to be with them through their younger years. On top of that, I was able to make a lot more money than I was at my corporate job, enabling me to truly care for my family like I’d always hoped for. I am truly blessed to not only be doing what I love with my photography, but to also get to spend so much time with my kids.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been smooth in a sense, being that as a business owner, you get to make all the decisions. That being said, there are definitely some ups and downs that come with being a business owner. Years ago, in the beginning, it was definitely a lot of trial and error. These days I’ve got the business running like a well oiled machine and have employees to help me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Casey McMinn Photography is Atlanta’s most sought-after maternity and newborn photographer, providing a high-end, luxury experience for busy moms and dads who value their time.

We are a maternity, newborn and milestone photography studio in the Atlanta area, specializing in a luxury portrait experience from start to finish, complete with professional hair and makeup, access to our inventory of studio gowns and wardrobe for family, and professionally designed artwork for your home.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Personally, I wouldn’t call it good luck, but honestly the practice of having goals and dreams. Every morning I wake up and write down my goals. This allows me to dream big and achieve anything I want to. Manifestation of my dreams and what I want out of life has allowed me to get to where I am today.
