Hi Chanise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am a retired Air Force Veteran, spending almost 10 years actively serving this country. As a retiree, I was not content sitting around the house finding different hobbies to try. That just isn’t me. I still had the desire to step back out into the community in a different uniform, but still with the same love and commitment to serve and help others. I also wanted to build something that could create a legacy for my four daughters.
I started having conversations with my family about what we wanted our future to look like, and entrepreneurship continued to come up in our conversations. I started researching different business options that our entire family of 6 could somehow be an involved in. After reviewing several different franchises, we decided to team up with the Mosquito Hunters franchise in the 2020, and we officially launched in 2021.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have definitely faced challenges along the way. Employee retention has been our biggest challenges. We know that our military background definitely impacts our expectations high standards. One thing I continue to hear amongst other business owners is that finding quality employees that take pride in their work often seems impossible. We have experienced employees having excessive personal and family sick days, poor customer service, and drug and alcohol use on the job. Those are all characteristics we simply will not and cannot tolerate.

Mosquito Hunters offer a range of mosquito control services for different types of Clients in the Cobb, Fulton, and Paulding County, GA area. Our services currently include mosquito treatments for Residential properties, Commercial properties, public properties, and Special events. In addition to our standard treatments, we also offer tick prevention and flea control, a natural mosquito prevention service, and seasonal plans to keep your yard protected year-round.
What sets us apart from our competitors is our community support and involvement, and this is what we are most proud of. We are present for and sponsor many community events. We have become known for bringing along our mascots, Gunther the Mosquito Hunter and Mina the Mosquito. We sponsor several of our local schools and parks and this year sponsored a girls softball team.
We truly care about keeping our community safe from pests carrying diseases such as West Nile virus and Lyme disease. Our services make the outdoors more enjoyable and comfortable and, most importantly, help create lifelong memories in one’s very own yard.
What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy in our business is serving, educating, and even saving lives in our community. I hear quite often of how many are deadly allergic to mosquito bites! Being able to allow many the ability to enjoy their yard safely is a heartwarming feeling. We also have been able to prove many nay-sayers wrong by getting rid of pesky mosquitoes while saving and protecting pollinators. They don’t want to believe it, but it is possible!
