Today we’d like to introduce you to Channé White.

Channé White

Hi Channé, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in Chicago, IL singing in the church choir when I was a little girl (5 or 6 y). I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and began writing songs in 5th grade. I participated in my middle school choir and continued on this path after my move to Tampa, FL by enrolling in a performing arts school (Howard W Blake) and becoming a chorus major. During my high school years, I learned how to properly use, maintain, protect, and grow my voice, and I also learned how to read music. Being in the program gave me the opportunity to sing at Disney and participate in competitions against other schools all throughout my high school career. Now, after recently moving to the Atlanta area to follow my dreams, I have been able to dive right back into my long-life passion of music and begin to take true control of my music career.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been rocky. During my college years, I lost all motivation for music, not singing much at all (something I’ve ALWAYS done), and I fell into a deep depression for two years. Even after coming out of that dark state, school took too much of my time and I was too burnt out to do anything outside of school and work. After graduating from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, I struggled mentally in regards to my self-worth, among other things. It took me 4 years before I returned back to my music and made the decision to take it seriously.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer and songwriter who specializes in R&B music. I am most known for how soft and delicate my voice sounds when I sing. I’m proud of putting myself out there. It is not easy to be your most authentic self in today’s world. What sets me apart from others is my passion and love for music. More times than not, mainstream artists get into the music industry for the money, and they have no problem pushing the narratives a lot of these mainstream labels want (sex, drugs, and guns).

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to follow your dreams, no matter what, stay true to yourself, and don’t let fear get in the way.
