Daily Inspiration: Meet Chazmyn Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chazmyn Johnson.

Hi Chazmyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born in Chicago and Growing up in East Atlanta, I was heavily involved within the Community. My mother always instilled in me that “I am a Priority”. Ive always been surrounded by very strong and successful women. When I returned from College, I became very ill and it took over my life. I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Epilepsy. I couldn’t work , drive, no social life , no school, it completely stopped my life for a while. I spent the next year adjusting and working to recreate myself. After finding my way back to the woman I thought I was, I began to make the changes to be the woman I saw myself becoming. The adjustments to my lifestyle and my mindset allowed me to see what needed to change in my life. From reality and social media platforms its clear to see how many women tend to put others before themselves. I created H.E.R. Identity after being diagnosed because I wanted to create a Platform for women to come willing to receive authentic and genuine guidance. HER Identity is an opportunity for Women to come together and showcase their amazing new or seasoned business ventures, be introduced to new clientele, all while being empowered to believe in themselves and trust in their brand. We are our Brands!! Women are capable of anything no matter what we go through. Investing in ourselves, is Investing in our Brand! Throughout the course of the pandemic Ive relied heavily on my photography and my H.E.R. Identity platform to transform into the woman I am becoming.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in the Winter of 2017. I was unable to work, drive, and felt completely immobilized because of it. Spending weeks in the hospital and on medications became my normal life. I vowed to change my lifestyle to make sure that I was healthy and happy. With the pandemic it was extremely hard to maintain and find a way to move forward. Photography was really a great outlet for me. I was able to be creative in my own place and in my own time. Everyday is a struggle in some form or fashion but I make the decision to be okay and at peace daily.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently a first year First grade teacher and coach high school dance at Redan High School. Ive been coaching for the last 5 years . My H.E.R. Identity platform is going on 4 years coming old in April and Im so very proud. My platform works to provide service to the community in various ways. We are a nonprofit that hosts coat drives, back to school drives, and even pop up shops. We welcome all types of women to be apart of H.E.R. identity from new business owners to seasoned entrepreneurs. Our social mixer is an event that promotes woman empowerment and equality on all levels. Women come in willing to be inspired and leave with an idea and understanding of the woman they want to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Giving back to the community and coaching my girls brings me joy. Philanthropy and entrepreneurship is what draws my focus . I love the fact that I am able to pursue a career and my passion all at once. Its a true blessing. I love to travel and experience new things. Im a true believer of living in the moment. We can never get these days back so we may as well spend them doing things we love with people we love .
