Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Powell.
Hi Cheyenne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Boujie Eats in April of 2020 in Bakersfield, CA after my job closed due to the pandemic. I knew I needed to figure something out FAST! I always loved baking and went to culinary school in my hometown, Chicago, to further my passion into a career but at the time, it just wasn’t possible for me. I always knew baking was my end goal and I guess losing my job was just the push I needed to realize that it was time. I relocated to Atlanta in July of 2021 to further my business in a more lucrative market & haven’t looked back since. I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and as crazy as it sounds, I couldn’t be happier I lost my job that day in March!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whew, I wish! When I first started my business in California I was scared, intimidated, and overwhelmed. One of the biggest challenges I faced was finding clientele in an unfamiliar place. I knew maybe three people in the area but I was determined to get my name out there. Then moving to Atlanta, I found myself facing the same thing. I found myself becoming unmotivated and discouraged. It really took everything in me to start completely over by myself but it’s the best decision I ever made!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Boujie Eats specializes in all things sweet & glamorous. I am most proud of the fact that I make everything from scratch and hand decorate every single treat by myself. Some of my favorite items on my menu are cupcakes, peach cobbler, chocolate-covered strawberries, pineapple cheesecake bowl, and cakesicles! Honestly, I love everything but it’s just too much to name. I believe what sets me apart from others is my attention to detail. Yes, I can definitely make something taste amazing but to also make my items eye-catching to where someone who has never tasted my treats wants to place an order, I feel like it’s the icing on the cake.
What matters most to you? Why?
The thing that matters most to me is consistency. I want to be the kind of business where people don’t have to wonder if their second order will be just as good as the first because the answer is no, it will be better! I constantly want to grow and perfect my craft so there will never be a doubt in anyone’s mind that Boujie Eats will always go above and beyond to deliver exceptional quality work.
