Daily Inspiration: Meet Cocoa JaDior

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cocoa JaDior.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m the owner and CEO of MAKEUP & Margarita’s. After exiting the Army in 2008, I spent a decade trying to find myself and a career that would fit my needs. M&M was established in 2016 when I was two months pregnant and unable to drive 18-wheelers as I had previously done. I wanted to make some extra cash. However, makeup alone wasn’t exciting enough and felt that I should offer an additional service, Something that was unique and different. One week later, Makeup & Margarita’s A Beauty and Beverage Bar was born. Our first event will be Oct 2nd at Gracie’s Rooftop. Makeup & margaritas is the ultimate social experience. We provide makeup services, beauty & retail vendors and drinks. We’re striving to create a luxury brand with exclusiveness and being a better quality of service than others. Ultimately becoming a chain of beauty and beverage bars. Our team is looking for new makeup artists and vendors in the area. To sign up, go to Eventbrite.com/Makeup & Margarita’s.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My first storefront was a clothing boutique in 2013. I couldn’t afford to have both my apartment and the boutique so I moved in with my grandparents thinking I would succeed and I failed terribly. In 2015, I became a traveling MUA. I quickly realized that there wasn’t a market for what I had to offer in my area.

Where did I fail the first time: lack of cash flow/ improperly marketing.

Secondly, realizing Mobile Makeup Services weren’t profitable.

Lastly, Accepting that family and friends aren’t always my customers.

Overall, I’m driven by all the struggles that I’ve overcome and have forgotten all about losing and have started to enjoy the game.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m A MOM-preneur. My work history is extensive. I’m retired from the military, studied cosmetology and currently deliver commercial vehicles all over the U.S and Canada thru my logistics and staffing company QLSTAFFING.COM.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid 19 came into the world like a thief in the night. My family lost many relatives and friends. And after recovering from Covid-19 myself, I vowed to spend as much time with family as possible and to have all of my affairs in order for myself and family just in case.
