Today we’d like to introduce you to Daija Richardson.
Hi Daija, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a passion for makeup and beauty growing up. Once I learned how to apply it on myself, I wanted to do more with my passion and offer makeup services for other women. My journey started in 2021 after I invested in a one-on-one makeup class in Birmingham, AL with JayBeats. After I felt comfortable with my skills, I purchased all the products I needed and got to work. My friends and family were my first clients and I appreciate them for trusting me.
Today, my business and my skills has grown so much since I first picked up a brush. I’m able to work with different skin tones and skin types. My passion has allowed me to travel to other cities, participate in weddings and other events. As business continues to grow, I will expand to products and offer one-on-one classes very soon. My goal is to help women enhance their natural beauty for any occasion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The beginning was challenging trying to build a clientele, staying consistent, and getting comfortable working with different skin tones. There were moments when I was discouraged when I wasn’t getting booked, but throughout this experience, I’ve learned to always stay teachable and motivated. The clientele began to grow once I moved into a salon suite and stayed consistent on social media. These challenges has taught me to think about other creative ways to make money outside of the salon and use my downtime to perfect my craft.

My artistry is to enhance natural beauty for all women. The soft natural looks are appropriate for any occasion, whether you’re going out, eating brunch, or celebrating. I’m most proud if the diversity of women I attract. Working in Atlanta has so many advantages. I’ve been able to work with young entrepreneurs, relators, attorney, nurses, and athletes. My next goal is to work in film and have my work featured on tv.
How do you think about luck?
No matter the circumstances, I’ve always felt like I was at the right place at the right time in my life. I didn’t grow up relying on luck, only hard work. Every opportunity presented to me is because of the time and effort I put into myself to get to the next level.
