DaSan Onyx Frazier

Hi DaSan Onyx , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When the pandemic hit I was a sophomore at Morehouse College and like everyone else, I was sent home to pursue school in a virtual environment. As a student athlete, I was used to maintaining a tight schedule with little room for leisure time. Suddenly, I had time, but nothing to do with the unknown of COVID outside. So, I turned to social media making TikTok videos as a joke that quickly became an outlet of multiple components of expression. I made videos that covered my HBCU experiences, family positivity, acting, comedy skits, and music genres. As my following grew, so did my motivation to keep creating relatable content with several viral videos reposted by The Shade Room, Fantasia, House of Hoops, Muni Long, and BET just to name a few. As the creator of the Blackronyms series, bringing resonating childhood stories and laughter to so many people from various walks of life was motivation for me. I had so many people tell me “they look forward to my videos everyday, because they were at a low place in their lives and my videos made them laugh” or “We all grew up with the same mom”, or “Your Blackronyms series is the best series on TikTok”. I have been blessed to collaborate with such brands as Spotify, DoorDash, DirectTV, NFL, Juicy Fruit Commercial, NBA, Go Noodle, and Disney. During COVID, I also decided to take some acting classes which allowed me to be a part of the following movies, Chidera, True Love, All Hail Anastasia, Praise This, and most recently, Thirst, and Touch Love ATL (season 2). I’m currently working on a couple of new projects so stay tuned. God is still working behind the scenes on my behalf.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t call them struggles, because for me, adversity is opportunity knocking. My motto is “Luv Da Game” which for me translates too, hungry and humble. I know God has a plan for me and it’s already designed, so what’s for me will find me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a rising actor and social media influencer, specializing in family, comedy, and movie skits. My most viral videos would have to be my Blackronyms series that has resonated with so many people. I had the privilege of interviewing the cast of The Blackening movie and hosted a screening in ATL with the cast. I’m well versed in front of the camera and can also direct, edit, and produce content. Additionally, I work in the DeKalb Public School system which is rewarding to give back to the upcoming generation. I take pride in being a Morehouse Man (class of 22′), a role model, and someone the youth can talk to, relate to, and trust.  I’m aware that my influence is critical to their development and I’m honored and humbled to be in their life.

There are many accomplishments that I thank God for everyday. I’m most proud of making my parents smile and proud of the man I am and continue to evolve into.

What sets me apart from others is my unique blend of experiences, skills, and perspectives that allow me to approach challenges creatively and adaptively.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have taken important calculated risks for my personal and professional growth. I think it’s critical to take risks, but none that would compromise my values or beliefs. Since I have built my brand (which is me) it’s important that any acting roles, brand deals and collaborations align with my brand. At the end of the day, I have to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with the reflection looking back at me.
