Daily Inspiration: Meet Da’Shawn Catron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Da’Shawn Catron

Hi Da’Shawn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was young, I’ve had a passion for helping others, especially kids. That passion led me to become a youth advocate and eventually write The World Is Yours. I wanted to create a book that inspires children to dream big and believe in themselves, no matter their circumstances.

The journey started with an idea—I saw a need for positive representation and encouragement in children’s literature. From there, I put my thoughts on paper, refined my story, and worked hard to bring it to life. Along the way, I’ve had incredible support from my community, mentors, and readers who believe in my mission.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Writing and publishing The World Is Yours came with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest struggles was balancing everything—school, sports, community service, and my passion for writing. At times, it felt overwhelming to juggle it all while making sure my book was the best it could be.

Another challenge was navigating the publishing process. As a young author, I had to learn a lot about how to bring a book to life—from writing and editing to marketing and getting it into the hands of readers. There were moments of doubt and frustration, but I kept pushing forward because I believed in my message.

Despite the obstacles, every challenge made me stronger. Seeing kids connect with The World Is Yours and feel inspired makes it all worth it. This journey has taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of believing in myself even when things get tough.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work revolves around inspiring and empowering young people. As a youth advocate and children’s book author, my goal is to uplift the next generation by promoting confidence, self-belief, and perseverance. Through my book, The World Is Yours, I encourage kids to dream big and recognize their full potential.

I specialize in storytelling that speaks directly to young minds, using relatable messages and engaging narratives to leave a lasting impact. What sets me apart is my perspective—I’m not just writing for kids, I’m still young myself. I understand the challenges and dreams of today’s youth firsthand, and I use that insight to connect with them in a real and meaningful way.

One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing how my book has inspired others. Whether it’s a child who feels more confident after reading it or a parent who tells me their kid was motivated to chase their dreams, those moments remind me why I do this. I want my work to show kids that no matter where they come from, they have the power to shape their own futures.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One surprising thing that most people might not know about me is that, despite being a writer and youth advocate, I’m also really passionate about sports medicine. A lot of people assume that my main focus is just writing, but I actually have a deep interest in how the body works, injury prevention, and helping athletes stay at their best.

Balancing my love for storytelling with my interest in sports and medicine has been an interesting journey. In a way, both connect—whether it’s inspiring kids through books or helping athletes push past their limits, I’m always looking for ways to motivate and support others. Who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll find a way to bring both passions together in a unique way.
