Hi DJ Mayo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I never thought I’d get this far when I started this journey. Growing up an athlete, sports was always my first love. Of course, music would go hand and hand with sports, listening to all types of music before games to get me going. Once I realized that Sports is something that I no longer wanted to pursue, I knew I needed to find a new passion. That’s when I discovered deejaying. I was always intrigued by Djs, having friends that were djs, and constantly tuning in to radio stations just to hear the dj sets. Once I laid my hands on my first piece of dj equipment, I’ve been hooked.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been easy. There were times I was facing being at odds with my family, nearly having my car repossessed, being evicted from my home, being hungry, etc. I wouldn’t change things though. I embrace every struggle because it molds you into the person you are meant to be as long as you do not succumb to the struggles.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Deejay. I feel what sets me apart is my style of deejaying. I love all forms of music and my ability to blend different genres of music is unmatched.
