Today we’d like to introduce you to Dru Phillips
Hi Dru, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began as an artist, captivated by the beauty and complexity of the world, translating its essence through watercolor, colored pencil, graphite, and ink. Creativity was my compass. Today, I find myself in the machinery of corporate America, where artistic expression takes a backseat to the demands of the highest bidder (even though my bank account would say other wise lol). The shift from passion to pragmatism is a familiar story, one that raises questions about the cost of survival in a world that often values efficiency over imagination.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Road is never smooth. The constant struggle is what makes it worth it i guess. If there is no resistance one can not grow. Struggles appear in many forms; things such as a flooded market, people now using AI, constant proving that I am extremely qualified and not just a “D.E.I” hire, deciding to take lower paying gigs to make ends meet. There are a lot.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most known for my Super Heroes. I been doing Cosplay Photography for over 14 years now and I am still just as excited every time I shoot. The thing that sets me apart from others is my lighting, or at least that is what I have been told.
What were you like growing up?
I dont remember much of my childhood but from what I was told, I was a pretty laid back kid. I remember having a few He-Man action figures and leaving them on the train one day.
