Daily Inspiration: Meet Dylan White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan White.

Hi Dylan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started creating music as a little boy by beat boxing during my spare time. Others thought I was making random noises, but my mother noticed it was rhythmic. She encouraged me to join the school band the moment I began middle school. I played the French Horn and Trumpet. These instruments influenced my style of music to always have a warm melodic undertone to my music (even though I create dance music).

Fast forward to high school, I get introduced to producing and DJing from looking around my environment. My neighborhood and my family was filled with talented artists and we all tested our music through collaborations. We make the music, then we perform the songs at parties while I’m DJing. In the mist of all the partying, our parties picked up some buzz and we hosted parties every single weekend and sometimes weekdays. The energy of people having a great time with the influence of my music production expanded my passion for music.

As of today, I developed my style of music into a fusion of hip hop, R&B, afro, and house. I craft my own sounds and push boundaries of new house music.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the biggest struggles I encountered was having my audience switch from hip hop to EDM. The city I grew up in was not familiar with electronic dance music, so my fan base took a deep plunge at a point in time. The moment I decided to switch from a traditional open format DJ to a DJ/Producer was the moment I entered a lonely road, yet it found peace.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a DJ and Producer. I create tracks and incorporate them into my DJ sets.

Majority of my tracks are remixes of famous hip hop and R&B songs.

Im most proud of making music that best describes my creativity. My uniqueness is something that cant be taken away from me.

What sets me apart from others is my soul alone. I belive I have a gift that is uniquely crafted for me to express. I showcase my dj sets to invoke a feeling and create a story thats motivating and lively.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Always be a mentee to someone that inspires you to become a better version of yourself, preferably in your field of profession. Inspiration always leads to the potential of expansion.
