Daily Inspiration: Meet Ebone Cooper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebone Cooper.

Ebone Cooper

Hi Ebone, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve gotten this message so many times, and I usually would respond, “In 2018,” when I started my yoga journey with more intensity. However, now, I look back, and all of the quiet storms that was my early 20s, moving a lot, unhealthy coping, partying, my parents splitting, dropping out of college, and a toxic decade-long relationship HAVE to be the beginning. They were the youthful explosion that we all face in this earthside experience, and without them, I don’t know that I ever find yoga and “need” centering. They are the beginning, and as dark as those times when they were necessary for me to grow, I embrace them as EB.

With that being said, I’ve always loved school and teaching. I use to play school with my siblings where I was the teacher, as an eldest would, lol. I’ve worked with children in daycare as a world-traveling nanny, and I was also an education manager at Sephora. Teaching is my core. I love to teach because I love to learn. I’ve also always been connected to the movement (cheerleader and dancer), so when my world was crumbling, and I found Yoga with Adrienne on YT, it felt natural. When I began going to class a Level 3. I also started therapy in this time. I gained so much strength and courage mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

When covid blew in, I was too sturdy to move. It made me dig deeper. I was emerged in all that nature offered at my local park (Yellow River). I spent hours day after day. In my hammock or in the river, praying, meditating, sleeping; just lost in the nature sauce. When I got the stimulus check, I felt the universe tell me “Buss a Move lil baby”. So, I jumped headfirst into Yoga instructor training. I took the 200hr. I continued my studies, as I began to practice Yin Yoga more with myself. Yin Yoga is a more passive practice than most are use too. Including myself, it is slower, the poses are held for longer, with more support tools. It really forces you to release and reflect. THIS was the great cracking for me. As a Leo sun+moon+mercury+mars I loved hot active yoga!; at least, my ego did. Meeting a place that forced me to slow down and surrender really opended me up and prepared me for the rest of my journey. So, this is where I decided I would teach: a healing space.

When I finished up my certifications, I was so ready to teach! I got home created an event, promoted it for 2-3weeks and the day of BOOM I got into a car accident with a deer. Normally this type of event would have sent me into a spiral, but in this state, I asked “why”. I heard God whisper, “Listen,” I was forced to slow down more; I began to take my singing bowls into my backyard early in the morning, and I would sit and play and meditate. I know now I was being sculpted to be something more.

I began offering my sound healing with my yoga practice. for myself, then into classrooms, all the way to retreat space in Costa Rica, where I refined it as a specialty. Realizing my ability to read, adjust, and reconstruct energy for others, even pulling specific messages for them. This brought me to Reiki, giving me the ability to tap deeper into myself and others.

I’ve been collecting modalities like infinity stones, lol. (Certified: 760hr yoga instructor, Sound Healing, Sex Doula, Thai massage, Reiki 1&2). Each of these practices have all been instrumental in my personal healing joinery over the last 4years, unlocking growth within. Choosing to hold space in the ways that I healed my life, in the space that I nurtured my soul has allowed me to hold very intimate space for others to release and reclaim their purpose and for me to live my life in intentional flow.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Even with having 2 entrepreneur parents, becoming an entrepreneur was no cakewalk. Being in such a new and growing niche has been eye-opening. Personally work, life balance can be a struggle to navigate. I watched my parents get it out the mud and build and work past their limits. It’s often challenging to balance the “business” and “the work” and making sure I still have space to breathe. With loving what I do, I can be prone to over-giving. This fast pace, cabalistic society makes you feel like you HAVE to chase that dollar, or you WILL starve! The ways in which we communicate, and share are so vast, cracking the algorithm is impossible, so Sometimes it can feel like I’m lost in the noise of the matrix. It takes a lot of time management and TRUE discernment on when to say NO.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I give solely out of a place of love and intention. I focus my offerings on Yin yoga, where people can slow down and feel comfortable in their body. I have become a que queen, as I give serval modifications to adjust for sensation in the body as well as body type. I now consider myself more of a sound healer. I will always be a yoga teacher, it’s my core, it’s what I do. However, Sound has been my gift. My ability to understand and tap into the energy present through a variety of healing instruments is a divinely guided conversation; Its sacred to me and what makes my practice an experience.

I do most of my personal healing work outdoors, so my experiences are also outdoors, making my offerings exactly that. An offering to the universe. The divine and mother Gaia are my partners in crafting intentional, sometimes radical, healing experiences.
