Daily Inspiration: Meet Elisabeth Bachmann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisabeth Bachmann.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I currently run two businesses, and they both started a bit differently.

My social media consulting business started off as a variety of freelancing projects, some of which I started in college. After I graduated with a B.A. in Strategic Communications, I maintained some of my freelance work while working for a small agency.

In August 2021, I started running my social media consulting business full-time with a variety of different offerings such as social media management, social media consulting, and Instagram Profile Audits.

My art business, Lizannbach Creative, was founded during the summer of 2020 to make extra money during the pandemic. I couldn’t believe it worked, but it turns out when we all have to spend time at home, we end up wanting to spruce up the place.

Over time, I expanded my products from only canvases to include acrylic pour jewelry, prints, and some crochet goods. Now, you can always expect to find paintings, jewelry, and prints, but I will also occasionally carry stickers and, most recently, crochet pumpkins! I participate in local pop-up shops and sell my work online.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been the smoothest of roads.

In the middle of gaining momentum with my art business, I moved to a completely different side of the country! Which lost me most of my regulars as I mainly was making sales in-person at the time.

As far as the social media business, I am still figuring out how to do all of the business administration tasks. The services I offer are really solid, and I went to school to learn how to do them, which has given me the ability to learn business admin on the fly, but I would not say it has been the easiest path.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am both a business and an artist, which makes this section kind of fun.

My art business started off as a creative outlet and a healthy/productive way to take care of my mental health. During the beginning of the pandemic, it became a major way that I supported myself. I do abstract-style paintings (acrylic pour) as well as upcycled jewelry and a couple of crochet items.

My social media consulting business specializes in helping small businesses that are local to the Atlanta area with their social media management. I also create brand and social media strategies for people who are values/mission-driven. I believe money is the result of a good business but not the mission for one. Helping small business owners stand out and show up on their social media (most specifically Instagram) helps level the playing field when they are competing with larger corporations. And showing up values first minimizes the commodity-based culture we have gotten so used to.

What does success mean to you?
I want to make my community a better place. Yes, I want to live comfortably. Who doesn’t? But at the end of the day, it’s not the money that wakes me up in the morning. It’s getting to help other people.
