Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Smith
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love of fashion and wardrobe styling began when I was a kid playing with Barbie’s. As I got older, I learned that I really enjoyed putting outfits together and was a creative outlet for me. In my 20s I noticed people would comment on my style and would ask for me for help and/or input! After an unexpected job loss in 2019 I decided to pursue my dream of wardrobe styling and content creation around beauty and fashion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At first, I felt like I had imposter syndrome and really doubted myself. I realized it is normal for anyone starting out feel this way and if I really believed I was good at this (I did) then there was no reason I couldn’t also pursue it and potentially be successful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a full time corporate job in health technology however StyleLiz is my passion. I am passionate about helping others feel good about themselves and teaching them how to present the best version of themselves via wardrobe styling and beauty. Starting out I was working with men and women to help edit their closets and build a wardrobe that makes them feel more confident. Since then, I have focused more on using my StyleLiz Instagram account to inspire women to feel more confident though wardrobe styling and beauty tips.
What makes you happy?
Something that genuinely brings me joy is making things beautiful and/or calling out the beauty that exists in humans. Whether that be an actual space, environment, or just helping someone (via styling help or just encouragement) I feel so much joy and purpose in that. Plus, it’s just really fun to see how sometime can take what they have and maximize that! I love seeing people feel good about themselves and brings me so much joy.
