Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Dunlop.
Hi Emily, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m an actress raised in North Georgia but grew up traveling with a missionary family. I landed in Atlanta after college to start working in the film business!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The acting industry is a very saturated market, which makes competition very high. I’ve found that continuing education is vital as advancements in technology change the film industry all the time. You have to be up for the work and dedication it’s going to take to be a working actress. The time to quit is when the struggle to make things happen for your career no longer enriches your life. I’ve found that the better I know and work on myself, the better actress I am; therefore as I grow in health in my inner world it is reflected in my success at work. So far for me, the work and dedication I’ve given my career have in turn enriched my life. So even though it’s been incredibly difficult, the time to quit has not yet come, and I don’t know that it ever will…
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an actress and voice over artist based in Atlanta and Northern Ireland. I grew up traveling to Africa and South America but, having married a Northern Irishman, my world has recently expanded to Europe as well. Growing up so close to the booming film industry in Atlanta set me up for success to start working right out of college. You can see me on Stargirl, Cobra Kai, Doom Patrol, Raising Dion, and most recently Woke. You can hear my voice for companies like Cone Health, GA Lottery, Toyota, Etsy and many others.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I think we will see more productions being developed here in Atlanta, not just shot here but also written and developed from talent here as well. I also think we will see more quality independent films finding larger audiences since making movies is so much more accessible with the advancements we are seeing in technology.
