Daily Inspiration: Meet Emily Rivas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Rivas.

Hi Emily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Mérida, Venezuela and when I was 22 years old, I emigrated to Atlanta, GA United States due to the political situation in my country. In Venezuela, I was a student of Industrial Design but due to the riots of 2014 and my subsequent emigration, I was unable to graduate. I arrived in the United States with my husband Cesar and my son Pablo Emilio (he was only one year old), with only $ 300 dollars in our pocket but with many dreams in our hearts.

When I first arrived, I worked in many places (telephone store, restaurants, car washes, house cleaning), but I always had the great dream of having my own business and my goal has always been to help people.

So in 2015, with the help of my mother-in-law (Carmen Cecilia) we started our first commercial cleaning business under the name of INNOVATION CLEANING SERVICES LLC. Which became a family business where we are currently four partners. It has been a very successful business that has helped us achieve our personal goals. In my case, I managed to start university, where I have studied Marketing at UTH Florida University for three years, I am in the final stage of my career where I will graduate in July 2022 as a Bachelor of Marketing.

And in 2020, despite the pandemic, I became a Real Estate Agent, licensed in the states of Florida and Georgia. It has been a long journey, full of obstacles and sacrifices, but always with the conviction that hard work pays off.

I have always liked helping others achieve their dreams and that is why as a real estate agent, my goal is to help families get their own homes and grow economically in this beautiful country.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say that it has been a road full of obstacles but also of beautiful things. Since I came to the United States, it has been a mix of new experiences, starting with the language, the culture, the lifestyle; but fortunately, God has always sent key people my way who have helped me grow and achieve my dreams.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently a Real Estate Agent and Marketing student. My greatest pride is knowing that I am helping others achieve that great dream of owning their own home.

As a real estate agent, I take great satisfaction in knowing that I help people through the important moments in their lives. From a new couple buying their first home to families buying a vacation home to a bachelor getting their best bachelor apartment, as a real estate agent, I can help people at every stage of their lives and truly be part of a community. Since I’ve been a real estate agent, I sometimes become part counselor, part life coach, and part mentor. That is very gratifying to me for my passion to give back.

I simply love helping people because they find in me support to reach the house of their dreams.

The big difference in my work is that even when the process with my clients has come to a close, they can find in me the support they need later.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
For me, the biggest lesson is that no dreamer is small and no dream is too big. The harder you work, the greater the reward and the good teachings and harvests you will get in return.
