Daily Inspiration: Meet Emily Schmidt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Schmidt. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Emily Schmidt

Dr. Schmidt found the physical therapy profession at a young age when she became a PT patient for aches and pains she developed while intensively studying ballet and other dance forms throughout her youth.

After graduating with her doctorate in physical therapy, she practiced in the outpatient orthopedic setting for two years before deciding to open her practice to provide the best quality physical therapy care to her clients.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Dr. Schmidt has been challenged by the unfortunate status quo of low quality of care and high variability in care within the physical therapy field. She is working toward overcoming these challenges by creating her own practice and striving to obtain her Orthopedic Clinical Specialty certification.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Dr. Schmidt specializes in orthopedics and sports medicine. She is certified in dry needling and enjoys incorporating yoga and weight-lifting principles into exercise prescriptions. She strongly believes that each physical therapy client/patient deserves one-on-one, evidence-based, personalized treatment.

She strives to seek out each contributing factor to her client’s pain and movement dysfunction in a holistic manner. Dr. Schmidt is also involved in state and federal advocacy through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and was selected in 2023 as an APTA Leadership Scholar. She additionally enjoys volunteering monthly at a local pro bono clinic serving the uninsured population.
