Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Knowles.
Hi Frank, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
GudLyfe Clothing Company designs, produces, and distributes a one of a kind urban lifestyle geared towards the male and female trendsetters of today’s fashion world. GudLyfe Clothing Company caters to consumers between the ages of 13 and 55 and currently being sold exclusively on this website, with various retail mergers in the works.
GudLyfe Clothing Company is a direct reflection of its very meaning, and our favorite saying is “If you feel gud when you look gud, then why not kill two birds with one stone.” Therefore the expressions of various sayings and eclectic artwork in each design depicts the free spirit and care-free attitude of every GudLyfe consumer.
Currently, GudLyfe Clothing Company has its eyes set on making a global impact on the fashion world through its marketing efforts which will focus on broadening the word Urban, making it more about style and personal expressions and less about ethnicity.
As a result, GudLyfe Clothing Company is truly committed to exceeding the expectations of its consumers through fashion-forward designs and projecting its irrepressible energy to find the next nitch so that its consumers will always have a hand up on the competition…If there is any.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out, there were MANY struggles that I used as a learning curve to become better in all aspects of business. I had to educate myself on the business of wholesale prices, negotiation, logistics, and exposure to different markets domestic and internationally. The value of taking me out of equation and putting the consumer first was my first obstacle. Mainly because I wanted to create all the ideas in my head but many were not cost-efficient or right season at the time. Then I had to study what wholesale was and understand how to negotiate the prices for my garments while creating a name for my brand. Lastly, I dealt with knowing who, what, when, and where to source garments from and how to meet deadlines when collections were set to release throughout the year. I found it better to look two seasons ahead and never get stuck with too much dead inventory.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Frank Knowles, Owner of GudLyfe Clothing Company based in Atlanta, Georgia. I started GudLyfe Clothing Company when I had only $200.00 to my name with a dream of becoming the best clothing designer and brand name in Fashion. I always wanted to become a household name in fashion because it has been a part of me since I could remember. I was the freshest kid in my school whether it was elementary, middle, high school, or college my fashion sense always stood out from the rest. I pride myself on finding my true passion for design and fashion then creating an entire brand name in the process. I followed my passion and never looked back. Currently, words can’t express how proud of myself I am just to be sold in 11 The Athletes Foot locations and online at the same time. I can really say I am a kid from Opa-Locka, Florida who had a dream so big that he never let go until the dream was met and surpassed.
Rest In Peace Marcia Pinder.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is knowing that my company has provided so many people with the opportunity to show their individual uniqueness while wear GudLyfe Clothing. See people wearing GudLyfe Clothing makes me elated to see the least. However, to know that I never gave up on my dreams and sought the information needed to scale my company while creating exclusive pieces for consumers to love and in return purchase. I’m happy I never gave up when hope looked so far away and nothing seemed to go my way, I kept pressing through now look where we are. In addition, since we’ve been in 11 retail locations that also afforded us the opportunity to provide for other families through our sales generated. We literally put clothes on people’s back and food on others tables, that’s true happiness.
