Daily Inspiration: Meet Gabrielle Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Williams

Hi Gabrielle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up my mother, who was an Interior Decorator, and I were constantly rearranging and redesigning all aspects of our home. Always painting, changing color palettes, shopping for new pieces; I always had a passion for decorating. Fast forward, I went to school for a “stable” job and became a Surgical Technologist and did this for about 10 years. But once COVID came, I become complacent in my career and had more time to do things that I forgot I enjoyed, like redecorating our apartment, creating art, and refinishing furniture. That is when I realized that wanted to do these things as often as possible so, I decided to go in the direction of refinishing furniture. I did this because many people were having issues with getting new furniture due to factories being at a stand still because of COVID. I decided to take this opportunity and start my own business in furniture refinishing. But I didn’t feel like I did when I did my first project, and slowly but surely my business came to a halt. During this time I also changed careers, went back to Corporate where I had more freedom and worked from home. This also gave my the time to go back to school, and I decided to learn more about Interior Design. After finishing school and attending one of my first industry networking events, it clicked, this is where I am meant to be! I graduated in July of this year and have had the most amazing opportunities that I cannot speak about yet so, stay tuned!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The beginning is rocky. I was on the search to find that job that I never had to work ever again and trying to find my crew. Figuring out what is meant for you is a rocky road otherwise everyone would have found it by now!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
